  • Publication number: 20100281736
Abstract: An ambidextrous magazine release for a firearm is provided for a firearm having a magazine well configured to operatively receive a magazine having a side-locking recess received within the well. The ambidextrous magazine release comprises a linkage moveable between an engaged position and a disengaged position having a lock pin configured to be received in a side-locking recess of a magazine operatively received in the magazine well with the linkage in the engaged position and to clear the side-locking recess with the linkage in the disengaged position. An actuator is provided on the firearm comprising a bar having a opposing push surfaces extending between a right and left side of the firearm. An interface is provided between the linkage and actuator with the interface being configured so that as either of the opposing push surfaces of the bar is pushed by a user, the linkage is moved between the engaged and the disengaged position.

  • Patent number: 7798045
Abstract: The present invention is an improved charging handle for a firearm. The handle is generally non-reciprocating and features a user activated forward assist. The major components are an actuator to provide charging function and upon which other components are mounted, a spring biased lever with a hook which biases downward so that the hook may interface a bolt carrier when the lever is activated, and a blade upon which handle structure is mounted. In the preferred embodiment, the handle is ambidextrous and features a spring detent to keep it in stowed position until the user desires use. The handle will only reciprocate when the lever is activated, which in turn requires intentional user action, thereby providing a relatively safer weapon to operate.

  • Publication number: 20100218671
Abstract: A gas operating system for a firearm comprises a gas block defining a cylinder, a discharge gas vent coupled to the cylinder near a proximal end of the cylinder and a discharge gas inlet configured for pneumatic coupling with the barrel of a firearm near the proximal end of the cylinder. A piston in the cylinder is movable from a rest position distal of the discharge gas vent and the discharge gas inlet against the action of a return spring by discharge gas from a barrel of a firearm pneumatically coupled to the discharge gas inlet. A regulator is pneumatically coupled to the discharge gas vent to selectively control the flow of discharge gas from the discharge gas vent to modulate a volume of discharge gas advancing the piston. A diffuser may be provided pneumatically coupled to the regulator for diffusing any audible or visual report.

  • Patent number: 7574823
Abstract: The present invention is an improved quick change barrel system for a firearm. It features an interlocking trunnion and lock ring that hold the barrel in place proximate the receiver. Intermittent threading provides multiple points of interface. A foldable handle is provided to allow safe removal of the lock ring and additional torque for attachment and removal of the lock ring from the system.
