  • Patent number: 8225571
Abstract: A device for fastening first and second structural members, typically decking joists and planks has a generally planar base plate with first and second ends and a thickness. A first vertical tab is integral with, and bent upwardly along a first bend line from an interior portion of the base plate. The bend occurs in a first direction to form a first interior angle between the first vertical tab and the second end of the base plate. A first fastener-receiving hole is positioned in the first vertical tab. A second fastener-receiving hole is positioned in the base plate between the first bend line and the second end. The first interior angle is in the range of about 85 to 90° along the first bend line. The base plate is generally trapezoidal, with a width that decreases from the first end to the second end.

  • Publication number: 20100205895
Abstract: A clip device for fastening first and second structural members typically decking members. The clip device has a base portion with first and second opposed ends and a thickness a first vertical leg portion integral with the leg base portion is horizontally spaced apart from a second vertical leg portion integral with the base portion. Arm flange portions integral to the first and second vertical leg portions are horizontally spaced from the base and aligned respectively towards said first and second opposed ends. A fastener receiving hole in the base is used to attach the clip device to the joist. The base portion, vertical leg portion and arm flange portion define diametrically opposed U-shaped jaw elements for holding the structural member to the joist.

  • Publication number: 20050278934
Abstract: The present invention provides a device and method for fastening structural members, particularly for fastening a deck member to a deck joist. The device and method provide the ability to affix fasteners in a manner which reduces their visibility on the deck and which reduces the occurrence of moisture infiltration around the fastener. The device has a base plate having at least two bores therethrough and at least two jig bodies affixed in different orientations atop the base plate, each of the jig bodies having an angled bore, the angled bores in communication with a respective one of the base plate bores, at least one of the bottom ends of the angled bores in communication with a space between a pair of deck members, the angled bore in communication with the space for receiving a fastener drivable therethrough into a side face of one the deck members and into a joist below.
