  • Publication number: 20060038868
Abstract: A printing device and method containing a carriage supporting print heads with a plurality of discharging elements to the image-wise forming of image dots of a marking substance on an a print medium, wherein the carriage is moveable in reciprocation in a main scanning direction and is also relatively displaceable with respect to the print medium in the sub scanning direction. Moreover, at least one radiation source is provided for irradiating the image dots of marking substance. The radiation source is designed such that the print medium with the dots formed thereon receives, in a traverse of the radiation source, a radiation dose which increases towards an edge of the dimension in the sub scanning direction of the area irradiated by the radiation source in the traverse.

  • Patent number: 4718657
Abstract: The invention provides a sheet stacker for receiving paper from a printer, copier and the like. The stacker includes a base, and an elevator mechanism contained in the base. A hopper sits on the base and includes a floor moveable within the hopper and supported by the elevator mechanism. As paper enters the hopper a sensor is used in conjunction with an activator to maintain the floor of the hopper at a level to ensure that each sheet slides essentially horizontally onto the stack to avoid curling of the sheet on the stack. The stacker also includes a paper positioning device above the stacker and operable by a controller to engage selected sheets as they enter the stacker. This engagement deflects the sheets to one side so that these sheets are staggered with respect to the other sheets in the pile for ease of identification in the finished pile.

  • Patent number: 4619515
Abstract: This invention provides an electrostatic printing apparatus comprising a rotatable electrostatically chargeable drum and ion deposition means for forming an electrostatic image on the electrostatically chargeable drum, the improvement comprising means for discharging a flow of air along the path of flow extending between the periphery of the electrostatically chargeable drum and the ion discharge means.

  • Patent number: 4516847
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for printing on a receptor such as paper. An electrostatic image is formed on a dielectric-coated drum in a controlled environment to minimize the creation of chemical contaminants. The image is then toned by wiping toner over the image from a toner delivery system which includes a mouth shaped to cause a vortex in the toner to improve toner flow. After toning the image is transferred to the receptor under pressure from a roller which is skewed with reference to the drum. The pressure in the nip is sufficient to also cause the toner to be fused to the receptor. An image eraser is also provided in the controlled environment.
