  • Publication number: 20100085254
Abstract: A system and method wirelessly communicates signals between a device on a gimbal and a stationary transceiver. An exemplary system has a gimbal with a moveable portion, a device affixed to the moveable portion, a gimbal transceiver coupled to the moveable portion, and a stationary transceiver, wherein the gimbal transceiver and the stationary transceiver are configured to communicate with each other using a wireless signal.

  • Publication number: 20100019958
Abstract: Systems and methods differentiate weather, such as storm cells and/or turbulence regions, based on location relative to a planned flight path of an aircraft. An exemplary embodiment compares a location of the weather with a location of a region of space corresponding to the planned flight path of the aircraft. In response to the location of the weather region being outside of the region of space, an icon is presented on a display corresponding to the weather using a first icon format. In response to location of the weather being within the region of space, the icon corresponding to the weather is presented on the display using a second icon format, the second icon format different from the first icon format.

  • Publication number: 20100019938
Abstract: After deactivation of the presentation of weather information on a radar weather display, systems and methods re-trigger when weather conditions change so that the crew is advised of the changed weather conditions. An exemplary embodiment monitors at least one condition of the weather and in response to the monitored weather condition meeting a re-triggering criteria, presents an advisory to a crew member of the aircraft indicating at least presence of the weather.

  • Publication number: 20090177343
Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting information pertaining to a weather object on a display. A process includes displaying on the aircraft display terrain information, weather reflectivity information, and at least one hazardous weather icon corresponding to the weather, wherein the hazardous weather icon indicates a determined hazard level associated with the weather; receiving a selection to display only the hazardous weather icon; and in response to receiving the selection, continuing display of the hazardous weather icon and suppressing display of the terrain information and the weather reflectivity information.

  • Patent number: 6683552
Abstract: A dual analog-to-digital (A/D) converter circuit having two separate channels coupled to receive a single analog input signal, each of the two channels includes a means for converting an analog input signal to a digital signal at respective sample times that are adjustable to be substantially simultaneous; a means for adjusting the gain of the two channels to differ by a predetermined factor; a means for detecting a channel overflow condition in one of the two channels having a higher gain; and a means for merging the two channels into a continuous output stream.

  • Patent number: 5896103
Abstract: A wave-based detection system according to various aspects of the present invention analyzes signals in conjunction with a series of thresholds related to the anticipated input power of the incoming signals. The system implements a scheduled gain system to optimize the dynamic range according to the operating configuration of a transmitter and the characteristics of the receiver. The thresholds are correspondingly scaled using the scheduled gain. Because the thresholds are determined by an algorithm instead of a look up table, with the algorithm being based solely on the anticipated input power, the system uses significantly less memory and empirical data.
