  • Patent number: 8432629
Abstract: A disk drive is disclosed comprising a head actuated over a disk comprising a plurality of spiral tracks. A first sync frame is first opened in response to a first frame offset during a first revolution of the disk, wherein the first sync frame corresponds to the head approaching a first sync mark in a first spiral track crossing. A first sync frame position error signal (PES) is generated representing a difference between a target framing of the first sync frame around the first sync mark and a detected framing of the first sync frame around the first sync mark. The first frame offset is adjusted in response to the first sync frame PES, and during a second revolution of the disk the first sync frame is second opened in response to the adjusted first frame offset.

  • Publication number: 20120212334
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring tires of a vehicle are provided. The systems can include a sensing device adapted to engage a tire of a vehicle and sense properties of a tire such as pressure and/or temperature. The sensing devices can be adapted to transmit sensed data to a system receiver adapted to provide the data to a user. The systems and methods can provide a user the desired information pertaining to one or more tires of a vehicle that are to be monitored, and the respective locations of the tires. The systems and methods can be adapted to monitor tires on any vehicle with inflatable tires, including off-the-road (OTR) vehicles.

  • Publication number: 20120118057
Abstract: Tire pressure monitoring apparatuses, systems and method for adapting a tire pressure monitoring apparatus to be used with a plurality of valve stem configurations. Tire pressure monitoring transducers and sensors designed for use with a single valve stem design can be modified to universally accept a plurality of valve stems when coupled with the presently disclosed adapter. Use of an adapter of the presently disclosed subject matter can adapt a tire pressure monitoring apparatus such that it is suitable for use with a wide range of existing valve stems, including valve stems not originally designed to be used with the tire pressure monitoring apparatus. The adapter is suitable for use with tire pressure monitoring transducers and sensors.

  • Patent number: 7843662
Abstract: A disk drive is disclosed comprising a first disk surface and a second disk surface, wherein the first disk surface comprises a plurality of concentric servo sectors extending across substantially an entire radius of the first disk surface. The concentric servo sectors are read across substantially the entire radius of the first disk surface using the first head to generate a read signal. The read signal is processed to generate a position error signal (PES) representing a radial location of the first head relative to the first disk surface. The PES is processed to generate a control signal applied to the VCM to move the second head radially over the second disk surface while writing a spiral servo track on the second disk surface.

  • Patent number: 7167333
Abstract: A method and apparatus for writing spiral servo information onto one or more disk surfaces at a variable velocity using a servo track writer (STW) is provided. In one embodiment, a variable velocity profile is chosen so that spiral crossing angles across the disk surface are set to be equal. In another embodiment, a variable velocity profile is chosen so that spiral crossing angles across groups of tracks (i.e., two or more tracks) are set to be equal. In yet another embodiment, a variable velocity profile is chosen to adjust the number of tracks per inch (TPI) across the disk surface.
