  • Patent number: 8834422
Abstract: A safety intravenous (IV) catheter assembly is disclosed which includes a safety device having a housing defining a cavity and distal and proximal openings, and a biasing member positioned within the cavity. The biasing member is movable from a first position to a second position to tilt the housing in relation to the needle when the needle tip is withdrawn through the distal opening of the housing to misalign the needle tip and the distal opening. A blocking arm is provided on the biasing member to prevent the biasing member from moving from the second position back to the first position.

  • Publication number: 20120258419
Abstract: An injection assembly for injecting medicine. The assembly includes a selectively collapsible elastomeric bulb having a hollow interior and an outlet. The bulb is collapsible from an expanded configuration in which the hollow interior has an expanded volume to a collapsed configuration in which the hollow interior has a collapsed volume that is smaller than the expanded volume. The assembly includes a tube having a proximal end connected to bulb, a distal end, and an interior passage in fluid communication with the outlet of the bulb. The assembly includes a needle connected to the distal end of the tube having a sharp distal end. The needle has an interior passage in fluid communication with the interior passage of the tube for delivering medicine from the hollow interior of the bulb when the bulb is compressed and drawing fluid through the needle toward the bulb when the bulb expands.

  • Publication number: 20120258421
Abstract: A syringe assembly for dispensing medicine from a cartridge having a diaphragm and a piston opposite the diaphragm. The assembly includes a barrel having a hollow interior, an open proximal end, a closed distal end, and an outlet. The assembly also includes a cartridge receiver slidably receivable in the hollow interior of the barrel. The receiver includes an interior space for receiving the cartridge, an access needle extending into the interior space for puncturing the diaphragm of the cartridge. The access needle directs fluid to the barrel outlet. The cartridge receiver includes a plunger rod movable into the interior space of the cartridge receiver for engaging the piston of the cartridge to selectively force medicine in the cartridge through the access needle.
