  • Patent number: 9269476
Abstract: A data communications cable is disclosed herein. The data communications cable includes a plurality of twisted pairs of conductive wires and a separator between the plurality of twisted pairs of conductive wires. The separator includes an inner member and an outer layer being supported and shaped by the inner member for completely encapsulating at least one gas pocket between the outer layer and the inner member. The outer layer prevents the plurality of twisted pairs of conductive wires from entering the at least one gas pocket.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 2013
Date of Patent: February 23, 2016
    Assignee: General Cable Technologies Corporation
Inventors: David P. Camp, II, Brian P. Skocypec, David M. Fausz
  • Patent number: 9202610
Abstract: A cable component that comprises a main body where at least a part of the main body is formed of an insulation material, and at least one non-flammable portion is disposed in the insulation material of the main body. The non-flammable portion forms at least about 25% by volume of the cable component, is flexible, and reduces the amount of the insulation material of the main body, thereby reducing the fuel load in the cable component.

  • Patent number: 9136045
Abstract: A communications cable that has a core that includes a dielectric separator. The separator has a spline that extends longitudinally in the core, thereby dividing the core into at least two quadrants. The separator also has at least one compartment. At least one pair of twisted insulated conductors is received in at least one of the quadrants and at least one optical fiber is received in the compartment of the dielectric separator. An outer jacket substantially surrounds the core.

Date of Patent: September 15, 2015
    Assignee: General Cable Technologies Corporation

  • Patent number: 8735726
Abstract: A jacket for a data cable that comprises a main jacket body having an inner area for receiving one or more filaments and a central longitudinal axis. The main body has an inner surface that surrounds the inner area and an opposite outer surface. At least one longitudinal opening extends through the main jacket body between the inner and outer surfaces and substantially parallel to the central longitudinal axis of the main jacket body. The longitudinal opening is substantially enclosed within the main jacket body.
