  • Patent number: 5568951
Abstract: A security tag with an affixed label for deterring tampering or unauthorized opening of a closed container, case or other item to be secured has a base unit and an elongate strap secured at one end to the base unit for extending through eyelets on adjacent parts of the item to be secured, such as one part of a container or case and the closure or lid of the container or case. The base unit has a trapper channel for releasably trapping the free end of the strap. An upper wall of the base unit includes a fixed part and a moveable cover which is hinged to the base unit and moveable between an open position and a closed position preventing removal of the strap from the trapper channel. A label is secured across the fixed part of the upper wall and the closed lid, and a signature is applied to the label. The lid cannot be opened to release the strap without simultaneously tearing the label.

  • Patent number: 5560657
Abstract: A tamper indicating label is made of tear-resistant paper material which is cut to form an enlarged base area and an elongate tongue projecting from the base area. The base area has a signature area imprinted on its front face, and is at least partially coated with adhesive material on its rear face. The tongue is threaded through eyelets on two parts of a closure of a container or the like to be protected, and the projecting end portion of the tongue is placed against the adhesive coating of the base area while the base area is folded about a central fold line dividing the base area into two halves, and the two halves are pressed against each other with the adhesive layer innermost and the projecting end portion of the tongue trapped between the two halves.

  • Patent number: 5551729
Abstract: A tamper indicating, multi-layer strip has an upper layer of translucent or transparent material, a tamper pattern-forming layer beneath the upper layer, and a lower, adhesive layer for securing the strip to an item to be protected. A layer of imprintable material which is of area less than that of the upper layer covers part of the upper surface of the upper layer to form a signature-receiving area. The tamper pattern-forming layer is designed to be activated to reveal a tamper pattern through the upper layer when the strip is peeled away from an item to which it has been adhered. A signature is applied to the imprintable material layer prior to application of the strip to an item to be protected, making unauthorized duplication difficult, if not impossible.

  • Patent number: 5452930
Abstract: A tamper indicating device for use on any container or enclosure has a security strap or other elongate connecting member for securing to between one part of a container or other item and a movable closure for the item, and a base unit for releasably trapping at least one end of the strap so that the container or item cannot be opened without first releasing the strap. The base unit has a recess for releasably retaining the strap end, and an access opening to the recess across which a tamper indicating label can be applied to the base unit. The only access to the recess to release the strap end is via the access opening, and once the label is applied the strap end can only be released by first tearing off or removing the label.
