The cover is movable between an open position and a closed position along a rotational axis of movement and also movable along a vertical axis of movement from the open position to a stowed position where the cover is concealed, allowing full access to the storage compartment. The movement of the door along the rotational axis of movement occurs substantially outside of the console. The movement of the door further actuates an ambient light feature and is dampened along the rotational axis of movement and the vertical axis of movement.
