  • Publication number: 20180003034
Abstract: A system and method for producing fluid from a subterranean wellbore that includes an electrical submersible pump (“ESP”) system and a receptacle. The ESP system is landed in the receptacle while sensing the presence of the ESP system with respect to the receptacle. The ESP system includes a motor, a pump, a monitoring sub, and a stinger on the lower end of the pump. A sensor on the receptacle detects the position of the stinger within the receptacle, and provides an indication that the stinger has inserted a designated length into the receptacle so that a fluid tight seal is formed between the stinger and receptacle.

  • Publication number: 20170306731
Abstract: A method for providing artificial lift with an electric submersible pump system includes providing an electric submersible pump system having a motor, a pump assembly, a seal assembly, and a shaft assembly extending along a central axis from the motor to the pump assembly. The pump assembly includes two or more pump sections and a coupling with a transmission mechanism is located between the two or more pump sections. The motor rotates a motor shaft segment of the shaft assembly that is in engagement with a first pump section and starts the first pump section. One of the transmission mechanisms is moved from a disengaged position to an engaged position where the coupling conveys the rotation of the motor shaft segment to the adjacent shaft segment and starts another of the two or more pump sections.

  • Patent number: 9631482
Abstract: Methods for communicatively coupling components at down-hole locations within a wellbore include introducing first and second cables through which signals are transmissible into the wellbore. Terminal ends of the cables are coarsely aligned by coupling connector housings associated with the cables within the wellbore. The terminal ends are then finely aligned by activating motors to move at least one of the terminal ends within the connector housings until a signal of sufficient strength is transmissible between the first and second cables.

  • Patent number: 9587456
Abstract: Some examples of a packet setting method using disintegrating plug can be implemented as a method for setting a packer in a wellbore. A disintegrating plug is installed in a tubing. The disintegrating plug blocks flow through the tubing in response to pressure. A packer is installed above the disintegrating plug in the tubing. The tubing including the packer and the disintegrating plug is run into a wellbore. The packer is positioned at a wellbore location to create an annular area between the packer and the wellbore wall. Downhole pressure is applied in the tubing to set the packer.

  • Publication number: 20150233228
Abstract: A system and method for improving the flow characteristics of gaseous slug-laden liquid hydrocarbon wells, particularly from horizontal, of similar boreholes. The invention provides a system and method which essentially homogenizes the liquid and the gas, utilizing a unique flow tube arrangement and a sequence of steps by first breaking up and separating the slugged gas from the liquid at a first location, and then gathering it into holding location—i.e., an annulus section—where it is re-introduced in controlled amounts into the liquid downstream of the first location. The gas is re-introduced into the liquid flow in such pre-determined and controlled quantities as to promote better pressure and flow characteristics of the hydrocarbon liquid product. Various alternative gas/liquid separation devices are incorporated into the system of the invention, which devices may be located either in a vertical wellbore or a horizontal wellbore, depending upon the particular well characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20150204181
Abstract: A method and system for treating a hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir with a DOWS system includes forming a first and a second DOWS system wells that fluidly communicate with both a first and second hydrocarbon-bearing formation. The first well has an upflowing DOWS unit and the second well has a downflowing DOWS unit. The DOWS units separate production fluid into a water-rich fluid and a hydrocarbon-rich fluid that passes to the surface. Both wells have an injection zone and a production zone. The DOWS system is operated such that water-rich fluid from the first DOWS well is introduced into the first hydrocarbon-bearing formation, water-rich fluid from the second DOWS well is introduced into the second hydrocarbon-bearing formation, production fluid from the second hydrocarbon-bearing formation is introduced into the first DOWS well, and production fluid from the first hydrocarbon-bearing formation is introduced into the second DOWS well.

  • Publication number: 20060244272
Abstract: A connective device is for a deadbolt lock assembly including a moveable deadbolt, a rotatable spindle connected with the deadbolt, and a handle disposeable about the spindle. The connective device includes a connector, preferably a cylindrical pin, movably coupled with the spindle so as to be linearly displaceable between first and second positions. A biasing member is configured to bias the connector toward the second position. An engagement opening provided within the handle is configured to receive the connector when disposed at the second position so as to couple the handle and the spindle. Preferably, the biasing member includes an arcuate plate disposeable within the spindle, extending circumferentially about an axis and having a carrier portion engageable with the connector. The plate is deflectable to displace the carrier portion in generally radial directions with respect to the axis to move the connector between the first and second positions.
