Patent number: 12196258Abstract: A spherical plain bearing includes an outer ring having a concave interior spherical surface, and an inner member having a convex exterior spherical surface. The inner member is pivotally disposed in the outer ring such that the inner member and the outer ring are angularly misalignable relative to one another. The spherical plain bearing includes an angular misalignment restraint system which includes an inner member restraint feature on the inner member and an outer ring restraint feature on the outer member. The first and second portions are spaced apart when the inner member and the outer ring are angularly misaligned relative to one another by less than a predetermined maximum angle ?, and come into abutment when the inner member and the outer ring are angularly misaligned relative to one another by angle ?. The abutment prevents any further relative angular misalignment of the inner member and the outer ring.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2022Date of Patent: January 14, 2025Assignee: Roller Bearing Company of America, Inc.Inventors: Brian Rowe, Jr., James Voisine

Patent number: 10089245Abstract: One method for managing encryption includes identifying an available or a secure mode. During restarts a passphrase must be entered in secure mode but not in available mode. Further, a master key is created for encrypting volume keys, where master and volume encryption keys are not stored in non-volatile memory (NVRAM) nor in disk storage. A half-key is created by encrypting the master key with a secure key, the secure key and the encrypted volume encryption keys being stored in disk storage. The half-key is stored in NVRAM only in available mode but not in secure mode. The master key is recreated during a restart when operating in the available mode by decrypting the NVRAM half-key with the secure key from disk storage. Further, the passphrase must be entered by an operator to recreate the half-key and the master key during a restart in the secure mode.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2016Date of Patent: October 2, 2018Assignee: HEWLETT PACKARD ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT LPInventors: John Kent Peacock, Tomasz Barszczak, Brian Rowe

Patent number: 9873513Abstract: Embodiments of a cabin outflow valve having one or more laterally-tapered sealing surfaces are provided, as are cabin pressure controls system including cabin outflow valves. In one embodiment, the cabin outflow valve includes a frame and a first door, which is pivotally coupled to the frame and which is rotated by an actuator between open and closed positions. The first door includes, in turn, a torque input point at which the actuator applies a closing force when rotating the first door into a closed position. A laterally-tapered sealing surface extends along a lateral axis of the cabin outflow valve and has a profile height decreasing with increasing proximity to the torque input point. The laterally-tapered sealing surface helps to ensure the formation of a complete lateral seal when in the first door is rotated into the closed position to significantly reduce or eliminate leakage through the cabin outflow valve.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2015Date of Patent: January 23, 2018Assignee: HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Steven Brian Rowe, William F. Ryan, Dan Birchak, Christopher Thomas, Albert Kang

Patent number: 9727260Abstract: Described herein are methods, systems and machine-readable media for migrating data between storage devices of a storage array. A metric is used to measure the optimality of candidate data migrations, the metric taking into account capacity balance and proper data striping. Candidate migrations are evaluated against the metric. The candidate migration that ranks as the best migration according to the metric may be carried out. This process of evaluating candidate migrations and carrying out the best candidate migration may be iterated until data is properly distributed among the storage devices of the storage array.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2015Date of Patent: August 8, 2017Assignee: HEWLETT PACKARD ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT LPInventors: Brian Rowe, Bob Fozard

Publication number: 20160169104Abstract: Variable bleed valve systems thereof including a stop mechanism with a self-lubricating follower nut assembly are provided. Self-lubricating follower nut assembly includes a follower nut and a pair of grease reservoirs. Follower nut has a recess at each of a first end and a second end and a groove extending between the first and second ends. A grease reservoir is disposed within each recess. Each grease reservoir has an outlet opening substantially aligned with a corresponding end of the groove. Each grease reservoir is compressible to expel lubricating grease into the groove upon compression. The self-lubricating follower nut assembly is configured to translate along a hollow screw between opposed end stops disposed within a housing of the stop mechanism. Each grease reservoir is compressed each time the self-lubricating follower nut assembly impacts an end stop of the opposed end stops.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2014Publication date: June 16, 2016Applicant: HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Steven Brian Rowe, Dan Birchak, Bill Ryan
