Publication number: 20240094741Abstract: Disclosed herein are a method and apparatus for automated following behind a lead vehicle. The lead vehicle navigates a path from a starting point to a destination. The lead vehicle and the following vehicle are connected via V2V communication, allowing one or more following vehicles to detect the path taken by the lead vehicle. A computerized control system on the following vehicle (a Follow-the-Leader, or FTL, system) allows the following vehicle to mimic the behavior of the lead vehicle, with the FTL system controlling steering to guide the following vehicle along the path previously navigated by the lead vehicle. In some embodiments, the lead vehicle and following vehicle may both use Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) position coordinates. In some embodiments, the following vehicle may also have a system of sensors to maintain a gap between the following and lead vehicles.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Applicant: Peloton Technology, Inc.Inventors: Shad Laws, Joshua Switkes, Art Gavrysh, Marc Tange, Mark Herbert, Colleen Twitty, Dean Hogle, Andrew Tamoney, Eric Monsler, Carlos Rosario, Oliver Bayley, Richard Pallo, Louis Donayre, Laurenz Laubinger, Brian Smartt, Joyce Tam, Brian Silverman, Tabitha Jarvis, Murad Bharwani, Steven Erlein, Austin Schuh, Mark Luckevich

Publication number: 20080053598Abstract: Easy starting rolls of perforated tissue product which have a reduced tendency to ply separate are formed with an adhesively secured doubled over tail tab folded against the roll. The strength and location of the bonds are controlled by controlling the penetration of the adhesive into the tissue. The dry tensile strength of the projecting folded over tail tab exceeds 400 g/3? and the caliper thereof exceeds one mil The adhesive bonds are spaced away from lines of perforation joining sheets in the initial sheets of the roll.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 26, 2007Publication date: March 6, 2008Applicant: Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products LPInventors: Teresa Redmann, Richard Huss, Brian Schuh, Terry Witkowski

Publication number: 20070156931Abstract: An apparatus and method for dynamically allocating memory between inbound and outbound paths of a networking protocol handler so as to optimize the ratio of a given amount of memory between the inbound and outbound buffers is presented. Dedicated but sharable buffer memory is provided for both the inbound and outbound processors of a computer network. Buffer memory is managed so as to dynamically alter what portion of memory is used to receive and store incoming data packets or to transmit outgoing data packets. Use of the present invention reduces throttling of data rate transmissions and other memory access bottlenecks associated with conventional fixed-memory network systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2007Publication date: July 5, 2007Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Mark BILAK, Robert BUNCE, Steven PARKER, Brian SCHUH

Publication number: 20070087041Abstract: A lotion includes a micro-emulsion composition, which is liquid at room temperature and undergoes a phase change to a semi-solid or solid upon contact with a substrate. The micro-emulsion composition can include a polar emollient, a non-polar emollient, a non-ionic surfactant, and a co-surfactant. The invention also includes a substrate treated with the lotion.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2006Publication date: April 19, 2007Applicant: FORT JAMES CORPORATIONInventors: Phuong Luu, David White, Jacob Propp, Brian Schuh

Publication number: 20060286885Abstract: An emboss pattern, tissue product and method of manufacturing tissue product having improved bulk and softness with minimal roll ridging. The pattern combines a plurality of aligned signature bosses with a grouping of signature bosses offset from the machine direction in a clockwise manner and another grouping of signature bosses being offset in a counter-clockwise manner.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 20, 2006Publication date: December 21, 2006Inventors: Brian Schuh, John Dwiggins, T. Publication number: 20060209944Abstract: A method, circuit and system for altering the power consumption in communication links. A type of noise and an amount of jitter in a signal transmitted across a communication link is measured. Upon determining the contribution of the measured noise to the measured jitter in the signal, the measured noise is classified based on such contribution and the intensity of the measured jitter. The power consumption in a component(s) of the communication link may be adjusted based on the classification of the measured noise. For example, if the measured noise is classified as being a low amount of noise, then the power consumption of the component(s) may be reduced such as by lowering the voltage of the power supply and/or reducing the complexity of the circuitry. By reducing the power consumption when the communication link is not subject to the worst-case condition, a savings in power consumption may be made.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2005Publication date: September 21, 2006Inventors: Juan Carballo, Hayden Cranford, Gareth Nicholls, Vernon Norman, Brian Schuh

Publication number: 20060110432Abstract: A paper towel includes: (a) a cellulosic towel web; and (b) a lotion emulsion disposed on the towel web. The lotion emulsion is substantially liquid at room temperature and includes a polar emollient and a non-polar emollient as well as a surfactant composition comprising a nonionic surfactant; wherein the emollients and surfactant composition are selected such that the lotion emulsion is immobilized on the towel web in a semi-solid or solid state and the lotion emulsion is capable of forming an aqueous gel upon contact with water. Preferably, the lotion emulsion is a waterless micro-emulsion which is also capable of forming an aqueous micro-emulsion with water.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2005Publication date: May 25, 2006Inventors: Phuong Luu, David White, Jacob Propp, Brian Schuh

Publication number: 20050273510Abstract: A networked conferencing system is described wherein multiple moderation of conferences is accommodated by permitting a conference moderator to designate one ore more alternate conference moderators. Each alternate moderator has access to at least a subset of conference moderation functions, thereby permitting any alternate moderator to take at least partial control of conference proceedings in the absence of the “main” or “primary” moderator.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 3, 2004Publication date: December 8, 2005Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventor: Brian Schuh

Publication number: 20050040536Abstract: A semiconductor chip package with reduced cross-talk between adjacent signals in a layer of a carrier is disclosed. A first pair of conductors for carrying a first signal is provided in a layer of the carrier. A second pair of conductors for carrying a second signal is provided adjacent to the first pair of conductors in the layer, where the first and second pairs of conductors are configured such that cross-talk between the first and second pairs of conductors is substantially minimized, without increasing the size of the package. The height of the first pair of conductors is shorter than the second pair of conductors. Alternatively, the first and second pairs of conductors are configured so that they evenly affect each other. The chip package thus reduces the cross-talk without compromising the density of the interconnections in the package or resulting in an increase in the size of the package.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2003Publication date: February 24, 2005Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Patrick Buffet, Charles Chiu, Jon Garlett, Louis Hsu, Brian Schuh
