  • Patent number: 5596670
Abstract: Optical cable enclosure for connecting a supply optical cable to a customer cable having respective storage regions for optical fibers of both cables and an interconnection region for the fibers. The optical fibers of the customer cable extend either to their storage region or to the interconnection region, guide members being positioned for change in direction from one region to the other. The paths of the optical fibers are controlled regardless of their destination to ensure no undue stresses are placed upon the fibers. This control is effected quickly and easily.

  • Patent number: 5450272
Abstract: A telecommunications shelf module is provided having electronic circuit packs and conductors extending from the circuit packs to an interface station for connection to conductors exterior of the pack, the module detachably mountable in a frame. The module preferably has a cooling arrangement included in its structure.

  • Patent number: 5071211
Abstract: A planar connector holder for optical fibers having storage compartments for incoming fibers and a mounting region for connectors to outgoing fibers. Two storage compartments lie back-to-back on each side of a planar base of the holder, the compartments being interconnected for fiber to pass from compartment-to-compartment. The mounting region and the storage compartments are aligned from end-to-end of the holder. With connector mounts mounted in the mounting region, the mounts lie in planes common with the two storage compartments in a depth direction of the holder. Also included is a distribution frame and holder combination in which the holders are mounted in two banks with patch cords extending between the banks and selectively between connectors.

  • Patent number: 4911662
Abstract: Termination shelf for telecommunications cable with mounting positions for conductor connector devices. The mounting positions are accessible from one side of the shelf for insertion of the connector devices. Also a guide is provided to enable a flexible transmission element to be inserted into the tray from the same side as for shelf insertion, the guide being shaped to guide the transmission element towards a remote side of the frame and then to guide the tramsmission element in the opposite direction through the mounting position. Frontal loading of the connector devices and of incoming conductors is thereby a use feature with the termination shelf.

  • Patent number: 4894024
Abstract: A telecommunications wall outlet having a circuit assembly, i.e. a printed circuit or a resistor network within a housing. A modular jack and a connector are electrically connected together by the circuit assembly and are mounted upon it. Preferably, the housing wall and circuit assembly cooperate to hold the circuit assembly in position and the walls have provision for holding conductors in place as they are led from a wall into the outlet.

  • Patent number: 4406510
Abstract: A retainer for a connector in cross-connect apparatus for telecommunications systems has a main body portion in which a connector fits, being retained by projections on a wall of the body portion which fit into recesses in the connector. The retainer has spaced pairs of legs at each end which fit over walls of a mounting member. Resilient guides between the legs enter slots in the walls to locate the retainer and a small rib or projection snaps into a hole in the wall to hold the retainer in position. A lid on the retainer snaps over the outer edge of the connector. Sealant is put in the bottom of the main body portion, and in the lid, to envelope the inner and outer edges of the connector and protect the terminal ends and conductors.

  • Patent number: 4295703
Abstract: A connector block for interconnecting two pluralities of wires fanned along the two opposite edges thereof is provided. The connector block has an elongate layered structure of three elements, a flat center element for supporting two staggered rows of flat, slotted electrical connectors, one on each surface thereof, and two insulating cover elements substantially coextensive, and compatible, with the center element, one on each side thereof and secured thereto for positively retaining the connectors in place. The center element is an insulator and has transversal slots in both of the opposite edges aligned with slots in the connectors for guiding and retaining wires to be inserted into the slots for establishing electrical contact therewith.
