  • Publication number: 20130053568
Abstract: 2,5-di(p-methoxyanilino)terephthalic acid crystal types I and II are made by controlling the pH during the recovery of the oxidized product of the condensation of dimethylsuccinyl succinate with p-methoxyaniline. The resulting 2,5-di(p-methoxyanilino)-terephthalic acid can be converted into 2,9-dimethoxyquinacridone or a solid solution thereof having controlled characteristics.

  • Patent number: 8322849
Abstract: Eyeglass assemblies including an eyeglass lens having an engaging portion. Under typical conditions of use, the engaging portion is maintained in contact with an eyeglass frame member by means of a removable bonding member (RBM). Under selected atypical ambient conditions, the RBM changes so that the engaging portion and the frame member can be separated. The engaging portion can extend from the lens, or can be a recess in the lens. The RBM can be a suitable adhesive (RBA), or a component composed of a shape memory metal (RBSMA) or a material which softens when subjected to heat or other atypical condition. The engaging portion can be shaped and treated to reduce stresses therein. Similarly, the open ends of an eyeglass rim can be maintained in contact with each other under typical conditions of use by an RBA or an RBSMA so that the rim is positioned around an eyeglass lens, but can be released under selected atypical ambient conditions.

  • Publication number: 20120109589
Abstract: The present disclosure features methods and systems for direct-parametric interoperability in computer-aided design. Two approaches for developing three-dimensional designs are currently widely used: direct and parametric computer-aided design (CAD) modeling. To combine advantages of both approaches, in one aspect of the present invention, a direct modeling user interface is used for editing a model, allowing intuitive and easy manipulation of geometry, and a parametric geometry engine interprets these manipulations as history-based features to create a construction recipe. Thus, the underlying architecture of the model remains parametric, even though the user may not realize that history and associative relationships are being created and modified during every manipulation. Accordingly, the present invention provides the intuitive WYSIWYG editing of direct CAD modeling, while retaining the powerful features and regenerative capabilities of parametric modelers.

  • Publication number: 20120109591
Abstract: The present disclosure features methods and systems for enforcing parametric constraints in a direct modeling interface in computer-aided design (CAD). A parametric geometry engine of a CAD application may compare an attempted edit to a feature in a direct modeling user interface of the CAD application to an existing constraint created in a parametric modeling user interface, and, in one embodiment, prevent the user from completing the edit. In other embodiments, the parametric geometry engine may present a dialog box to the user and allow them to reject the edit, override or delete the constraint, modify the constraint, or take other actions as appropriate. In still other embodiments, the parametric geometry engine may allow one user to edit the feature, but not another user. Thus, parametric constraints and permissions-based ownership of entities may be enforced in a direct modeling user interface.

  • Patent number: 7449059
Abstract: Crude indanthrone is milled, with or without other additives, to reduce and normalize particle size and distribution to a sub-pigmentary, near amorphous, state. The resulting highly aggregated crude powder is then treated with a heterogeneous solvent system of water and an alkyl ester of an aromatic carboxylic acid, such as methyl benzoate, to de-aggregate and grow the particles back to a pigmentary size. The conditions of the solvent treatment can be controlled with respect to temperature, time, and solvent ratio such that the desired properties of strength, shade, and dispersability are optimized.

  • Publication number: 20080077495
Abstract: A system for an online community provides linkage between a plurality of business entities and a population of computer-literate individuals to develop online capabilities for the business entities. A server is attached to a network accessible to the business entities and the individuals. Synchronization software runs on the server and is configurable by the individuals to provide the desired online capabilities. Development of the online capabilities provides a work environment for the individuals. Access to the business entities is through an association, such as a chamber of commerce. A manager from the association administers the developed online community, connecting an organization, such as a school, with the association. The organization provides access to the individuals and a framework for fund-raising programs to benefit the organization and the individuals. The system routes fund handling and delivery of goods or services generated by the online capabilities to the business entities for processing.
