Patent number: 11962845Abstract: Methods and systems can identify and request video data and information associated with an event. An event location and time associated with the event can be determined. The event can comprise damage to property or injury to a person. A geographic range of interest associated with the event location and a time duration of interest associated with the event time can be determined. One or more users who are determined to have been at or near the event location at the event time can be automatically identified. A request for at least one of information or video data from the geographic range and time duration of interest can be transmitted to the one or more identified users.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2023Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignee: United States Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Angelica N. White, Matthew C. Dahlman, Brian Tougas, Gideon B. Luck

Patent number: 11893570Abstract: A system is described to authorize a transaction using blockchain technology. For example, a transaction authorization system comprises a point of sale (POS) device, a mobile device, and a payment blockchain. The POS device can initiate a transaction by scanning one or more items to be purchased and generating a code comprising a transaction identifier and a total cost of the one or more items. The mobile device can receive the code and can generate a token comprising the transaction identifier, total cost, a selected payment method identifier, and a value that can identify an account of a person associated with the mobile device. The token is sent to a payment blockchain to authorize the transaction.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2020Date of Patent: February 6, 2024Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Brian Tougas, Carl Mehner, Jennifer Hunt Erickson, Sean Carl Mitchem, Brian F. Publication number: 20230335255Abstract: The present disclosure is related to a method for a monitor system containing a processor that may receive position data from one or more sensors associated with one or more electronic devices. The position data may represent the devices' various locations over time. The monitor system may determine whether the locations represented by the position data correspond to expected locations generated by a predictive model. After determining that the locations and expected locations do not correspond to one another, the monitor system may send an alert to a computing device.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 19, 2022Publication date: October 19, 2023Inventors: Galo M. Alava, Amanda Michelle Boyd, Ramsey Devereaux, Gregory Mark Lamontagne, Elizabeth J. Rubin, Brian Tougas, Courtney St. Martin, Michael Kyne

Patent number: 11741260Abstract: A technique for selectively scrambling data obtained by electronic sensor devices, such as cameras, voice communication devices, and the like, is provided. A payload of the data is scrambled when one or more characteristics of the data indicate that the data may include sensitive information. The scrambled data is transmitted to a target device.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2020Date of Patent: August 29, 2023Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Ric M. Pena, Arthur Quentin Smith, Brian Tougas

Patent number: 11704398Abstract: A real-world object-based method and system of performing an authentication of a person in order to permit access to a secured resource is disclosed. The system and method are configured to collect image data from an end-user in real-time that includes objects in their environment. At least one object is selected and its image data stored for subsequent authentication sessions, when the system can determine whether there is a match between the new image data and image data previously collected and stored in a database. If there is a match, the system verifies an identity of the person and can further be configured to automatically grant the person access to one or more services, features, or information for which he or she is authorized.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2021Date of Patent: July 18, 2023Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Brian Tougas, William Daniel Farmer, Ruthie D. Lyle, Kelly Q. Baker, Ryan Thomas Russell, Noe Alberto Martinez

Patent number: 11658809Abstract: A technique for selectively sending encryption keys is provided that encrypts user data generated as a result of a user interacting with a user device. The encrypted user data may be sent to one or more target devices associated with a third party. When the one or more target devices are authorized to receive an encryption key, the encryption key to decrypt the encrypted user data may also be sent to the one or more target devices.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2020Date of Patent: May 23, 2023Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Ric M. Pena, Arthur Quentin Smith, Brian Tougas

Patent number: 11328280Abstract: The disclosure describes a biometric authentication system that can authorize a transaction at a retail store using a person's biometric data and password. The biometric authentication system may include a point-of-sale device that can receive a biometric data (e.g., voice data, fingerprint data, or facial data) of a person that initiates a transaction. The biometric authentication system may also include one or more authentication systems that analyzes the received biometric data, and an authorization system that compares data obtained from the one or more authentication systems and the POS device to determine whether the information obtained from the person is related to that person's biometric and password information previously stored by the authorization system.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2019Date of Patent: May 10, 2022Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Brian Tougas, Susan Elizabeth Wright, Reynaldo Medina, III
