  • Patent number: 5170599
Abstract: A self supporting dome structure comprised of a plurality of rings connected one upon another, each of the rings approximating a conical frustum with successively higher rings having lower angles of inclination. Many of the rings are formed of a plurality of individual, flat panel, each of which includes a flat rectilinear top plate member, a flat rectilinear bottom plate member and opposed flat rectilinear side members, the side member converging inwardly from the bottom member to the top member.

  • Patent number: 4686801
Abstract: A self supporting roof structure comprises a plurality of vertically adjacent circular upwardly inwardly inclining at least partial rings stacked one on another. Each ring comprises a plurality of like horizontally adjacent panels each of which is an aliquot of the ring. Each panel comprises an outer surface which is convex from side to side, upwardly converging rectilinear sides, a concave top plate member, and a convex bottom plate member. The top and bottom plate members in each ring conform to respective upper and lower inwardly downwardly sloping conical surfaces of which the apex coincides with the axis of the roof structure. Preferably, at least one ring has a number of panels which is an integral number greater than one times the number of panels of the ring above.

  • Patent number: 4665664
Abstract: A domed building structure comprised of panels, convex from side to side, each panel including converging planar side members with straight outer edges, top and bottom planar plate members having curved outer edges, and a convex structural sheet attached to and conforming to the outer edges of the framework of side and plate members, the panels being arranged to form substantially conical frustums stacked one upon another with successively lower angles of inclination, the plate members bisecting the angles between the frustums.

  • Patent number: 4285174
Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide a building structure (1) that is free-standing, clear-span, for bulk storage of materials such as fertilizer, salt, sand, grain, coal, any granular-type material that must be covered and the like. The structural uniqueness of the interface joint (21) of the building structure (1) permits such building to be of variable straight-line, convex, concave profiles, or combinations of such profiles, to spatially accommodate not only materials to be stored, but also equipment to prepare such materials for storage.Said building structure (1) has a series of frustums, with each frustum being in and of itself an independent and self-supporting structure and with each frustum having a plurality of trapezoidal-shaped panels (5) having bottom and top plates (7) and (9). The panels (5) of a lower frustum are joined to the panels (5) of an upper frustum through their interface joints (21) of respective mating top plates (9) and bottom plates (7).
