  • Patent number: 7316337
Abstract: A device for discharging molten metal from a container to another, comprising an outlet sleeve which penetrates into the lower container pushed by springs against a nozzle of refractory material which connects the inside of the upper container with the outside, so as to make a seal for the molten metal. The outlet sleeve is surrounded by a cylindrical sheath which joins, through a sand joint with a cylindrical blade fixed to the base of the upper container, around the aperture where it faces the nozzle. The sheath and the blade enclose a volume into which an inert gas is injected to remove the air possibly present.

  • Patent number: 7316338
Abstract: An discharging device for molten metal between an upper ladle (1) and a tundish (3) comprising a slide valve nozzle fixed to the base of the ladle, comprising an upper fixed nozzle (42) and a mobile one below (43), inserted into an opening in the base of said slide valve nozzle with the lower end protruding from it, and a ring shaped blade (46) fixed to the base of the slide valve nozzle around said aperture. The tundish (3) comprises a cylindrical jacket (22) placed with a vertical axis and fitted at its end with a sand joint (24) for sealing gas into which the ring shaped blade is sunk (46). The slide valve nozzle can be fixed to the base of the ladle by mountings (48, 49) fitted with eyelets into which pivots (50) are inserted.

  • Patent number: 7140416
Abstract: A continuous metal strip casting plant on which is mounted, at the casting location, a mobile ingot mould comprising two cylindrical metallic casting rolls in addition to other components, amongst which there are a tundish and/or under tundish and/or an unloader and/or lateral plates, respective preheating stations located in positions separated from the position of casting, and rotating arms located on a turret itself also placed on the casting plane to transfer the components from the casting line to their preheating stations.

  • Patent number: 7140418
Abstract: A continuous metallic strip casting plant comprising an ingot mould, a device for the evacuation of casting wastes formed by a trolley which can host two chests. The trolley is located below the ingot mould and on the trolley is deposited the full chest in the free space next to the spare empty chest. The trolley is then moved and the spare empty chest is fixed under the ingot mould. A metal waste evacuation method is also described.

  • Patent number: 7100673
Abstract: Support device for an assembly (14) of the casting rolls (11, 11?) of a continuous metallic strip casting line comprising a movable support at each axial end. Such supports (17, 17?, 19, 19?) are provided with a hydraulic bearing (13) to reduce friction during motion with respect to the assembly. Between the movable supports of one of the rolls (11) and the assembly is located a hydraulic actuator (18), which thrusts the first roll (11?) towards the second roll (11?) against a stop (16). Between the second roll (11?) and the assembly there are located magnetostrictive actuators which thrust the second roll (11?) against the first roll (11). The device has a joint provided with a housing (22) inside which a telescopic tube (21) for the supply of the cooling water to conduits present in the rolls may slide. The housing (22) is connected to the assembly (14) by means of a bellows (27) allowing for oscillation.

  • Patent number: 4194376
Abstract: A leather press in which two wedges are synchronously driven to raise a lower platen in the press from an open condition to a position adjacent an upper platen of the press. The lower platen is movably mounted on a support. The support and the wedges are in slidable engagement with one another to effect a preliminary closing of the press. A pressurizable expandable member such as a flexible diaphragm may be mounted between the movable platen and the support so that the platens are secondarily urged together by the application of hydraulic pressure, to apply the required working pressure, to a leather workpiece disposed between the platens. The diaphragm is preferably provided by a wall portion of an inflatable sac.
