  • Patent number: 8011512
Abstract: A child-resistant but adult-friendly package package comprising a sleeve having top and bottom walls, opposite side walls, a closed end, and an open end. A blister card insert configured to be movable into and out of the sleeve through the open end. A first latch element on the insert and a second latch element on the sleeve, the first and second latch elements are interengageable when the insert is fully inserted in the sleeve to latch the insert against withdrawal from the sleeve. A biasing member on the insert is configured to be in contact with the top and bottom walls of the sleeve, urging the first latch element into engagement with the second latch element. The biasing member also forming a first portion of a retaining means to prevent complete withdrawal of the insert from the sleeve and a second portion of the retaining means is formed on the sleeve for cooperation with the first portion to retain the insert against complete withdrawal from the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 7726485
Abstract: The present invention relates to a switch for use with an article formed from paperboard. The article includes a first panel and a second panel. The first panel and the second panel each have a sliding surface facing one another. The first and the second panels are in sliding relation to one another between a first position and a second position. The switch comprises a conductive pathway disposed on the sliding surface of the first panel and a first contact surface is disposed on the sliding surface of the second panel and a second contact surface is disposed on the sliding surface of the second panel. The second contact surface is in spaced relation to the first contact surface so as to prevent electrical communication between the first and second contact surfaces. The conductive pathway of the first panel is in spaced relation to at least one of the first and second contact surfaces of the second panel when the first and second panels are in the first position.

  • Publication number: 20040070504
Abstract: A semi-covert RFID enabled container comprises a container blank and an RF transponder positioned on the container blank so that it is not visible from the exterior of the container when the container is erected. The container blank includes a plurality of interconnected panels and a plurality of flaps. The flaps and panels define an overlapping area on the blank where the flaps and panels overlap when the container is erected. The RF transponder is positioned on the blank in the overlapping area. A method of forming a semi-covert RFID enabled container comprises providing a container blank having flaps, panels, and an overlapping area, and coupling the RF transponder to the blank in the overlapping area. The method may also include erecting the container, where the erecting step includes folding and attaching the flaps of the blank.

  • Publication number: 20040052203
Abstract: An information disk has a disk structure with a metalized data storage area. A radio frequency identification processor that is activatable by light, such as laser light, is coupled to the disk structure to prevent copying of copyrighted or otherwise secured data, and to prevent unauthorized use of the information disk. The processor may be positioned at a variety of locations on the information disk, including in the inner non-conductive area, and the outer non-conductive ring, as well as within the metalized data storage area. A process for enabling an information disk with an RFID processor includes providing a disk structure having a metalized data storage area, and positioning a short wavelength electromagnetic light activated radio frequency identification processor on the disk structure.

  • Publication number: 20040052202
Abstract: An information disk includes an annular disk structure having a surface with a metalized data storage area coupled to the surface. An antenna is affixed to the disk surface and positioned radially inwardly from the metalized data storage area. A radio frequency identification processor is coupled to the disk surface and the antenna. A non-conductive gap is positioned between the metalized data storage area and the antenna and the processor is positioned in the gap. A protective coating is positioned on the disk structure The processor may also be positioned radially inwardly from the antenna. A process for enabling an information disk with a radio frequency identification processor is also described. The process includes providing a disk with an outer metalized data storage portion and an inner antenna portion, with the portions separated by a gap for accommodating a processor.

  • Patent number: 6667092
Abstract: A corrugated structure has a first and a second linerboard, with a corrugated medium sandwiched between the first and second linerboards. An RF processor is coupled between one of the linerboards and the corrugated medium. The processor may be positioned on an inlet or label, which may also include an antenna. A method of forming a corrugated structure having an embedded RFID processor includes providing a linerboard and a corrugated medium, positioning an RF processor between the linerboard and the corrugated medium, and affixing the linerboard and corrugated medium together with the RF processor positioned therebetween. An assembly line for forming a corrugated structure includes a supply of a first linerboard, a second linerboard, a corrugating material stock, and inlets that have an RF processor and antenna coupled to the inlets. The assembly line also includes a corrugator, a single facer, a double facer, an inlet applicator, and a cutter.
