Application of the clip element can be effected individually and manually, or a stack of the clip elements can be included within an application device, e.g., in the form of a hand-held and/or desktop device. In another alternative, the clip stack can be provided in a paper processing device, e.g., a finishing station, such that successive groups of papers/documents are clipped together in automatic fashion.
