  • Publication number: 20230191200
Abstract: A system may include an exercise device and an external device. The exercise device may include a rigid rod, a plurality of light sources, at least one load sensor for detecting an applied longitudinal force, and a first processor coupled to the at least one load sensor and to the plurality of light sources and configured to obtain a signal indicating a magnitude of the applied longitudinal force, and cause a subset of the plurality of light sources to emit light. The external device may comprise a communication interface, a display, and a second processor coupled to the communication interface and to the display and configured to establish a communication link with the exercise device using the communication interface, obtain data over the communication link, and cause the display to present information associated with the exercise device.

  • Patent number: 11571608
Abstract: An exercise device comprises a rigid rod having a first and second ends, a plurality of light sources arranged in a row along at least a portion of an axis extending between the first and second ends of the rigid rod, at least one load sensor for detecting an applied longitudinal force, and a processor coupled to the at least one load sensor and to the plurality of light sources. The processor is configured to execute machine-executable instructions that cause the processor to obtain a signal indicating a magnitude of the applied longitudinal force, and cause a subset of the plurality of light sources to emit light. A ratio of a number of light sources in the subset to a total number of the plurality of light sources represents the magnitude of the applied longitudinal force relative to a reference longitudinal force.

  • Publication number: 20220175050
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a smoking substitute device. The smoking substitute device comprises: an elongate main body, the main body having a body length in a longitudinal dimension that is greater than a body width in a transverse dimension. The main body includes a curved portion having a curved longitudinal axis along the longitudinal dimension. The curved longitudinal axis is fixed.

  • Publication number: 20220095698
Abstract: A system for managing a smoking substitute device, the system comprising; a smoking substitute device comprising; a control unit; a memory configured to store firmware for operating the smoking substitute device and a device-specific encryption key; and a communications interface; and an application server configured to communicate to the smoking substitute device a firmware update message that is encrypted with the device-specific encryption key, wherein the smoking substitute device is configured to obtain an encrypted firmware image, wherein the firmware update message includes a firmware key for decrypting the encrypted firmware image, and wherein the smoking substitute device is configured to use the device-specific encryption key to decrypt the firmware update message, to obtain the firmware key for decrypting the encrypted firmware image.

  • Publication number: 20210059314
Abstract: A smoking substitute device having: a control unit; a battery configured to supply power to the smoking substitute device; a movement sensing component configured to sense movement of the smoking substitute device; and a battery level indicator configured to, when activated, provide an indication of charge remaining in the battery. The control unit is configured to activate the battery level indicator when a predetermined movement of the smoking substitute device is detected using the movement sensing component.
