  • Patent number: 8537877
Abstract: This disclosure relates frequency channel qualification in wire-free communications system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 1, 2009
Date of Patent: September 17, 2013
    Assignee: Intel Mobile Communications GmbH
Inventors: Britta Felbecker, Markus Hammes, Roland Hellfajer, Alexander Uwah
  • Patent number: 8432815
Abstract: A packet-oriented mobile radio transmission system takes account of a packet utilization level that indicates how much of the maximum amount of payload information that can be transmitted is used for transmission. Such packet utilization level is a function of the packet type. A packet type that is suitable in the respective reception conditions is selected at the receiving end as a function of a variable that is characteristic of the integrity of the received data, and of the packet utilization level. At the transmission end, the packet type is switched as a function of the selection result.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 10, 2004
Date of Patent: April 30, 2013
    Assignee: Intel Mobile Communications GmbH
Inventors: Dieter Brückmann, Britta Felbecker, Roland Hellfajer, Alexander Uwah
  • Patent number: 8068885
Abstract: A method for calculating the power consumption of a mobile device, particularly of a mobile station of a mobile radio system, in an observation period ?t based on various possible system states sk in which the device can be in the period ?t. A value of a quantity ?k is determined system-state-dependently for the system states sk occurring in the period ?t. The power consumption in the period ?t is calculated in such a manner that the quantities ?k and state-dependent typical currents ik are taken into consideration.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 9, 2006
Date of Patent: November 29, 2011
    Assignee: Infineon Technologies AG
Inventors: Markus Hammes, Roland Hellfajer, Britta Felbecker
  • Patent number: 7903626
Abstract: In a method for channel qualification and selection, an actual data packet length and a data packet error rate in a received data packet are determined, and are used for a qualification decision. The measured data packet error rate is compared with a previously calculated data packet error threshold value, which depends on an assumed bit error rate and the ratio of a possible actual to a maximum data packet length.

  • Patent number: 7529288
Abstract: In a method for qualification of a frequency channel in a wire-free communication system, data is transmitted on different frequency channels by means of an adaptive frequency hopping method. The transmission and reception are carried out in time slots using a time slot method which is based on the radio standard. In order to qualify the transmission quality of the frequency channels, data packet error rates and/or bit error rates and the field strength of the received data signal are measured, and the measured field strength is compared with a threshold value field strength in order to make a selection decision.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 27, 2004
Date of Patent: May 5, 2009
    Assignee: Infineon Technologies AG
Inventors: Britta Felbecker, Markus Hammes, Roland Hellfajer, Alexander Uwah
  • Patent number: 7526262
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a converter circuit with a limiter to convert an analog reception signal into a value-discrete limiter signal. An evaluation circuit determines a zero crossing distance signal from the temporal distances between successive zero crossings of the limiter signal. A synthesis circuit calculates a digital processing signal whose zero crossings correspond to those of the limiter signal and whose pulse shape has a smaller spectral width than a rectangular pulse.

Inventors: Michael Speth, Britta Felbecker, Markus Hammes
  • Patent number: 7359435
Abstract: In a method for efficient evaluation of measurement values from a bit error rate measurement for indication of channel quality, the characteristic of the transmission channel, and the bit error rate which is dependent on it, are taken into account via their stochastic distribution. This results in the bit error rate being quantized in a form matched to the channel transmission, for indication of the channel quality. Furthermore, the evaluation can be extended by taking account of a weighting function which allows assessment of application-specific requirements.

  • Patent number: 7127262
Abstract: The document specifies a method for determining field strength which can be used in mobile radio systems, such as Bluetooth. The principle proposed involves alternate transmission and reception in the mobile radio system, with each timeslot comprising at least one time interval for transmitting/receiving a data block (RX, TX). The reception field strength (RSSI) is measured directly before (A, B) or directly after (C, D) transmission or reception of the data block (RX, TX). This allows the number of locking operations required in a PLL to be reduced and still allows adaptive channel adjustment to be performed, for example in a “frequency hopping method”, by measuring all channels without reducing the net data rate.
