  • Patent number: 4516653
Abstract: A vehicle mounted parking device for use on a front wheel drive vehicle of the type having motive means and at least two front and two rear wheels. An auxiliary wheel is mounted substantially between and equidistant from the rear wheels and is mounted so as to permit movement relative to the vehicle frame between an out-of-the-way position and a lower operative ground engaging and rear end of the vehicle lifting position such that the rear wheels are raised off the ground. Power means is provided so that the auxiliary wheel may be forced under the rear of the car to raise the rear wheels and to place the rear end weight of the vehicle on the auxiliary wheel. The auxiliary wheel, when in operative position, allows lateral movement of the rear end of the vehicle with a minimum of longitudinal vehicle movement. The auxiliary wheel may be mounted so that its axis of rotation forms an angle between approximately 20.degree. and 60.degree.

  • Patent number: 4205863
Abstract: A wheeled carrier particularly adapted for transporting suitcases and like or other articles. A support for the suitcase is provided with a pair of removable ground wheels which are adapted to be stored within the support when not in use. The support is provided with a pair of links for engaging a side of the suitcase substantially at right angles to the side engaged by the support. The links are swingably connected to the support in such a manner that the links and support cooperate to support the suitcase adequately although the parts may be made of extremely lightweight elements. The suitcase support is adapted to be manually manipulated by means of an elongated member such as a walking cane, umbrella, sectioned handle, or like article.

  • Patent number: 4195676
Abstract: A briefcase or like article having accordian folds or pleats forming its bottom wall is provided with wheels attached to said bottom wall so as not to interfere excessively with the expansion or contraction of the width of the bottom wall through the action of the pleats or folds. A wheel mount is clamped to one side of the briefcase and to an adjacent fold of the accordian-like bottom wall.

  • Patent number: 4192408
Abstract: A wheeled support for carrying articles such as suitcases, trunks, sample cases and the like which may be readily installed on conventional carrying articles without requiring a great deal of skill. An aperture is cut in one corner at which two sidewalls intersect and a wheel housing is secured at such aperture. Adequate stability may be achieved by applying a pair of spaced apart housings along a long corner of the article to be wheeled.

  • Patent number: 4174746
Abstract: A pile sizer for reducing the lateral extent or diameter of the upper end of a submerged pile. A vertically extending elongated anchor rod is threadedly secured to the upper end of the submerged pile along the central axis of the latter and an elongated tube is swingably secured to said anchor rod by arms to permit orbital movement of said tube about the centerline of the pile. An elongated shaft is rotatably supported within the tube and is formed with a milling cutter at its lower end for cutting the pile and is connected at its upper end to a motor mounted on the upper end of the tube. The operation of sizing the pile to a predetermined diameter can thus be performed from above the water line.

  • Patent number: 4168558
Abstract: A wheel mount adapted to be used on the bottom side of a suitcase to permit wheeling the latter. The mount is formed so as to minimize the likelihood of damage to the mount and to the wheel which it supports. The mount is elongated in a longitudinal direction and its sidewalls are slantingly disposed relative to the wheel in order to minimize damage when struck by another object. One form of the invention is made from a block of plastic or the like and other forms are made of formed sheet metal.

  • Patent number: 4076292
Abstract: A door lock for use with an auxiliary door holding mechanism that is in addition to the conventional door lock. An auxiliary door holding plate is adaptable to be locked and unlocked from outside the door by means of a conventional key-actuated driver bar. The door holding plate may also be locked from inside the door. The door holding plate also permits the door to be held against further opening from a partially open position. In one of the embodiments of the invention a device is employed for swinging the auxiliary locking plate from an unlocked position to a locked position by the closing movement of the door. By another embodiment of the invention the auxiliary locking plate is moved from unlocked position to locked position from outside the door after the latter has been closed.
