  • Patent number: 4857323
Abstract: Preservative solutions for wood and other cellulosic fibrous materials are provided which include zinc acetate and copper acetate in an amount at least about the same as the zinc acetate, and optionally boric acid and/or a basic material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 27, 1987
Date of Patent: August 15, 1989
    Inventor: Bror O. Hager
  • Patent number: 4723992
Abstract: The present invention represents compositions for the fixing of pentavalent arsenic, e.g., arsenates and arsenic acid, generally spread in the soil. The fixation is so carried out that the arsenic cannot be further spread, not even after an eventual further increase in soil acidity. The compositions comprise metal salts of iron, aluminum or chromium with a weak acid, preferably iron or aluminum acetate, which are spread on the soil containing the arsenic compounds.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 15, 1985
Date of Patent: February 9, 1988
    Inventor: Bror O. Hager
  • Patent number: 4597940
Abstract: This invention concerns a treatment for preserving or protecting moist wood against attacks from microorganisms (fungi) with the use of evaporable or sublimable ammonium salts. The protection is obtained by distributing the salts close to the wood so that the salts form an atmosphere around the wood in which the microorganisms cannot develop. The treatment is of special interest for moist wood during a storage period until it has been dried and is not further attached by fungi.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 5, 1985
Date of Patent: July 1, 1986
    Inventor: Bror O. Hager
  • Patent number: 4377039
Abstract: A process for the drying of wood is disclosed. The drying is carried out by heating the wood in an oil and under vacuum with heating being carried out wholly or partly by use of dielectric energy.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 24, 1981
Date of Patent: March 22, 1983
    Inventor: Bror O. Hager
  • Patent number: 4371572
Abstract: An improved process for the drying/coloring of wood is disclosed wherein the wood is contacted with a drying/coloring oil. At least the outer surface layer of the wood has a moisture content in excess of the fiber saturation point of the wood. The treatment process is carried out until the moisture content of the wood decreases below the fiber saturation point.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 18, 1981
Date of Patent: February 1, 1983
    Inventor: Bror O. Hager
  • Patent number: 4366627
Abstract: A process for the treatment of wood is disclosed wherein the wood is contacted with an oil mixture in order to dry/color the wood. The mixture comprises both low and high boiling oils.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 8, 1981
Date of Patent: January 4, 1983
    Inventor: Bror O. Hager
  • Patent number: 4337720
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for use in the preservative treatment and/or drying or coloring of wood. The apparatus consists of an enclosed vessel which is divided into two chambers by an intermediate wall portion. Wood to be treated is placed in one chamber in a treatment liquid, with the liquid passing into the second chamber by passing over said intermediate wall portion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 10, 1980
Date of Patent: July 6, 1982
    Inventor: Bror O. Hager
  • Patent number: 4305978
Abstract: An improved wood preservation process is disclosed wherein wood is contacted with an emulsion of an oil-based perservative in water.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 29, 1980
Date of Patent: December 15, 1981
    Inventor: Bror O. Hager
  • Patent number: 4287239
Abstract: An improved method for the preservation of hardwood by treatment thereof with a preservation solution is disclosed. The wood is treated with a preservative solution which is not readily fixed and is then kept in an undried condition for a period of time sufficient to allow the preservative solution to penetrate the wood and diffuse through the cell walls of the wood without fixation thereof. The wood is then dried so as to fix the preservative. Enhanced periods of preservation effectiveness are thus obtained.
