  • Publication number: 20170238526
Abstract: A bird repellent apparatus having an integral base member and a plurality of prongs. The base member, by means of a plurality of tabs having holes for receiving screws or other fasteners, can be affixed to virtually any desired surface. The plurality of prongs with sharp tips presents an impossible barrier to birds that would otherwise land or perch on the surface to which the present invention is affixed. The combined base member and prongs are formed from injection molded plastic structure that also provide the tabs having holes to secure the base member to the underlying surface.

  • Publication number: 20010048053
Abstract: A bracket insulator is designed to provide support for wires carrying electrical current to repel birds. Each bracket is configured for receiving a wire in a slotted hole. There are five such slotted holes in the preferred embodiment. Thus the bracket provides for holding up to five parallel wires in spaced relation. The spacing is selected to provide a high likelihood of shocking birds that land on the wires. The brackets provide additional slots for alternative wire mounting as well as a variety of holes for still other wire supporting paths. Bracket mounting holes are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6250023
Abstract: A preventative device against nuisance from birds comprised of a base to which spikes are fitted to extend opposite surfaces of a structure to be protected in order to discourage birds from landing on those surfaces. The base is provided with canals and each spike has a knurled end. The maximum cross section of the knurls is slightly larger than the cross section of the canals. The spikes are force fit into the canals so as to be held firmly therein. In an illustrated embodiment, the base of the device is made from ultraviolet light-protected polycarbonate plastic in a variety of colors to match the area covered.

  • Patent number: 5433029
Abstract: A bird repellent apparatus which is specifically designed for installation on telephone and electrical wires and the like or other extremely narrow, elongated surfaces to which it would be difficult, if not impossible to install any prior art bird repellent apparatus. More specifically, a channel member is configured for receiving a large plurality of top members in a continuous serial array, wherein preferably the prongs of a plurality of top members all lie in the same or substantially the same plane. In the preferred embodiment disclosed herein, the channel member is affixed either by adhesive materials or fastening elements to a cable clamp which, in one exemplary embodiment, comprises a pair of matching C-shaped members having flanges, at least one of which can be selectively fastened by a fastener, such as a bolt or a rivet. The clamp is adapted to encircle and compressively engage a cable, such as a telephone wire or electrical wire.

  • Patent number: 5253444
Abstract: A bird repellent apparatus having a base member and a plurality of top members, each of which holds a plurality of prongs. The base member, by means of a plurality of tabs having holes for receiving screws or other fasteners, can be affixed to virtually any desired surface with little or no risk of injury to the installer. The top member comprises a prong holder, each having a plurality of prongs with sharp tips presenting an impossible barrier to birds that would otherwise land or perch on the surface to which the present invention is affixed. The top members are adapted to be press fit onto the base member after the base member has been installed on the underlying surface. In an alternative embodiment, the base member is an extruded plastic structure that provides countersunk holes to secure the base member to the underlying surface without the need for tabs.
