  • Patent number: 11428115
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide a method for controlling steam pressure within a turbine component. The method includes calculating a predicted stress on a rotor of the turbine component based on a predicted steam flow with the inlet valve in a minimum load position, a rotor surface temperature, and an inlet steam temperature, and determining whether the predicted stress exceeds a threshold. If the predicted stress exceeds the threshold, the inlet valve adjusts to a warming position. When steam in the discharge passage reaches a target pressure, the exhaust valve partially closes while maintaining the warming position of the inlet valve. If a safety parameter of the turbine component violates a boundary, the exhaust valve partially opens while maintaining the warming position of the inlet valve. When the predicted stress does not exceed the threshold, the inlet valve opens to at least the minimum load position.

  • Patent number: 10007279
Abstract: A method of limiting control pressure provided to an actuator of a valve coupled to a valve positioner, a drive signal is provided to a pneumatic stage of the valve positioner. The pneumatic stage is arranged to control output pressure of the valve positioner in accordance with the drive signal. A pressure measurement from a pressure sensor communicatively coupled to the valve positioner is obtained, and an abnormal pressure is detected based on the pressure measurement. In response to detecting the abnormal pressure, the drive signal is controlled so as to limit the output pressure of the valve positioner, wherein the output pressure provides control pressure to the actuator.

  • Patent number: 8421643
Abstract: The present invention comprises methods for testing the valve seating integrity of a valve. The valve components that determine valve seating integrity are typically a valve seat and a valve closing element that engages the valve seat to close the valve. Examples of the test method described herein respectively test valve seating integrity during opening of the valve and during closing of the valve, and do so in all instances without interrupting the operation of a process control system that includes the valve, without isolating the valve, and without relying on user analysis.

  • Publication number: 20110074383
Abstract: Assemblies and methods for sensing current through semiconductor device leads are disclosed. One example method includes mounting a current sense assembly about a lead of a semiconductor device. The current sense assembly may include a carrier adapted to hold a current sensor in close proximity to a semiconductor device lead to sense current flowing in the lead. One example assembly for sensing current through a semiconductor device lead includes a carrier for mounting to the semiconductor device lead and a current sensor supported by the carrier. The carrier includes output terminals. The current sensor has leads electrically coupled to the output terminals. The current sensor is positioned to extend around at least a portion of the lead and provide a signal to the output terminals representing current flowing in the lead when the carrier is mounted to the lead.
