  • Patent number: 7021693
Abstract: A cover for the bed of a pickup truck provides a front rigid panel fastened to the front wall of the pickup bed, at least one intermediate rigid panel attached to the front rigid panel by a first transverse hinge, and a rear rigid panel attached to the intermediate rigid panel by a second transverse hinge. The rear rigid panel has a tailgate locking lip flaring downwardly and outwardly to prevent the tailgate from opening. In the fully covering position, the pickup bed cover provides a water-resistant, locked cargo area. In the partially covering position, the rear rigid panel and, optionally, the intermediate rigid panel fold forward to permit access to the cargo bed. Another pickup bed cover according to the applicant's invention provides a frontmost rigid panel fastened to a toolbox mounted in the pickup bed, at least one intermediate rigid panel attached to the front rigid panel by a first transverse hinge, and a rearmost rigid panel attached to the intermediate rigid panel by a second transverse hinge.

  • Patent number: 6511265
Abstract: A composite rotary tool includes at least first and second regions comprising first and second materials, respectively. The first and second regions are autogenously bonded and differ with respect to at least one characteristic such as, for example, modulus of elasticity, hardness, wear resistance, fracture toughness, tensile strength, corrosion resistance, coefficient of thermal expansion, or coefficient of thermal conductivity. A method for producing the composite rotary tool includes placing a first metallurgical powder into a first region of a void of a mold, and placing a second metallurgical powder into a second region of the void. The first metallurgical powder differs from the second metallurgical powder, and at least a portion of the first metallurgical is brought into contact with the second metallurgical powder. The mold is compressed to consolidate the first and second metallurgical powders to form a compact, and the compact subsequently is sintered.

  • Patent number: 5826970
Abstract: A light-transmissive trim plate and mounting apparatus for being received in a recessed lighting fixture installed in a space over a ceiling, in which a light bulb, being operated for light, communicates light through the trim plate for providing an ornamental illuminative effect around a perimeter of the opening for the recessed lighting fixture. The trim plate comprises a translucent light-transmissive trim ring defined by a cup having a first open end and a second open end with a flange extending laterally around the first end. The trim ring defines a perimeter ring conforming in shape to an opening of a recessed lighting fixture. A support engages the trim ring in the recessed lighting fixture. The trim ring covers a gap between the recessed lighting fixture and the ceiling while providing an ornamental illuminative appearance during operation of the light bulb.

  • Patent number: 4862357
Abstract: A remote data base containing flight schedule, fare, and fare limitations information is accessed from a local computer terminal. The information retrieved is sorted and scored in accordance with a predetermined travel policy stored in the local computer memory, and as applied to a proposed travel itinerary. A ranked list of applicable flights is merged into a single display.
