  • Publication number: 20180228277
Abstract: A hair brush with an array of bristles (4). Each bristle extends from a base to a free end. Some or all of the bristles have relatively wide first portion, towards the base of the bristle, and a relatively narrow second portion, towards the free end of the bristle. The bristles are arranged in offset rows and centre lines of the rows are spaced apart such that at least part of the first portion of bristles in one row extends between adjacent bristles in an adjacent row and/or, when viewed perpendicular to the rows, the width of the first portion of the bristles in one row is, over part of their length, the same or greater than the space between adjacent bristles in an adjacent row so as to partially occlude the space between bristles in an adjacent row. The bristles are sized and arranged so that the first portion of the bristles serves to easily penetrate and divide hair between the bristles and the second portion of the bristles enables tension to be applied to the hair when hair flows between the bristles.

  • Patent number: 10031221
Abstract: System and method for estimating locations and range rates of a multiplicity of targets by estimating range-Doppler state representation, including: computing a prior range-Doppler state estimate matrix and a measurement matrix containing phase shifted and re-ordered samples of a transmitted signal waveform; applying the measurement matrix to the range-Doppler state estimate matrix to generate a prediction of a current return sample and calculating a difference between the current return signal sample and the prediction of the current return signal sample; multiplying the difference by a gain matrix to obtain an adjustment to the prior range-Doppler state estimate matrix; repeating the process for a next return signal; computing an estimated range-Doppler map (RDM); applying a threshold to the estimated RDM to detect individual targets and obtain their range and Doppler parameters; and using the range and Doppler parameters to estimate the locations and range rates of the targets.

  • Publication number: 20170266067
Abstract: A pad of vibration-reducing foam is interposed between a spineboard and a litter that are secured together by straps. The pad has a pad upper surface contoured to receive and substantially mate with a spineboard lower surface to block horizontal motion therebetween, and a pad lower surface with a substantially planar support region. The pad can be formed of more than one layer of foam, with each layer having different vibration-damping characteristics. Material costs can be reduced by employing a discontinuous pad formed by a pad head segment and a pad foot segment. When a full-length pad is employed, separate straps for engaging the spineboard and the litter can be provided, with the pad interposed between the straps to prevent transmission of vibrations through the straps. The pad can be configured to offset the spineboard on the litter and allow a portable ICU to be placed alongside the spineboard.

  • Publication number: 20170262899
Abstract: A computer has a processor and nontransitory memory. The computer receives a list of search keywords to propose to a search engine. For search keywords that are too infrequently used to have historical data to estimate keyword performance, the computer computes linguistic similarity between the sparse-data keyword to other keywords that have sufficient historical keyword performance data to permit a statistically sound estimate for keyword performance. The estimates are submitted to a search engine, and updated by grouping the sparse-data keywords into groups, including at least a high-performing group and a low-performing group, and reallocating budget from the keywords of the low-performing group to keywords of the high-performing group, by reducing estimates for keywords of the low-performing group and increasing estimates of keywords of the high-performing group.

  • Patent number: 9758067
Abstract: The child safety seat provides a crotch belt assembly to allow the consumer to adjust the crotch belt's position and length without disassembling the child restraint. The positioner uses two tab-like abutting ends that can slide within the channels so that the positioner may be configured at different positions with respect to the seat section, allowing for quick adjustability from a rear position to a forward position and vice versa. The crotch belt runs through the positioner and is connected to the seat shell with the belt attachment. The rear position will be used for the smaller child and is locked into that position by the second abutting end. The second abutting end is depressed and the positioner is slid forward until the first abutting end engages. During this process, the length of the crotch belt will automatically adjust for proper fit for the larger child.
