  • Patent number: 11957891
Abstract: The present invention relates to a percutaneous blood pump (1) and an introducer system to be placed in the circulatory system of a patient e.g. using the Seldinger technique without the need of surgical access. The percutaneous blood pump (1) comprises a pump housing (11) inside which a radially pumping impeller (12) is arranged for rotation by means of a rotating flexible cable housed inside a protective flexible catheter (15) and attached to a bearing housing (21) in which a set of radial and axial bearings are housed and arranged for rotation by means of a flexible cable housed inside another protective flexible catheter (25) and driven by an electric motor (30) in a motor housing (31). In addition, an introducer system, comprising an expandable introducer is provided, arranged to facilitate easy and safe introduction of the percutaneous blood pump. The introducer system may comprise a hemostatic valve to limit blood loss during insertion and percutaneous blood pump use.

  • Publication number: 20180271908
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods of ameliorating or inhibiting critical limb ischemia or a condition associated with critical limb ischemia in a subject, whereby such methods comprise identifying a subject having a peripheral vascular disease, peripheral arterial disease, critical limb ischemia or a condition associated with critical limb ischemia and providing to said subject a composition comprising: a cell population, wherein the cell population comprises bone marrow total nucleated cells and red blood cells, an anticoagulant, and autologous plasma, wherein the composition has a viscosity of 1.5 to 5.0 centipoise (cP) measured at 37° C., wherein the composition comprises a viable cell dose and, wherein said composition is administered to said subject intramuscularly through a standard terminally-ported cannula needle, or a cannula side-ported needle or catheter comprising a plurality of ports and a closed end.

  • Publication number: 20130067811
Abstract: A container system providing ideal watering and aeration conditions for growing plants comprises a tray having a bottom surface. An insert with an upper surface and a lower surface is placed in the tray forming an upper space above the insert for the addition of a growth medium, and a lower space below the insert forming a water reservoir. One or more perforated baskets extending from the lower surface of the insert and into the water reservoir draw water from the reservoir and into the growth medium. At least one aperture in the insert is coupled to a perforated post to provide air circulation to the growth medium. A port may be provided through the insert enabling an inverted water vessel to be coupled to the port to provide water to the water reservoir. The various components may be provided in the form of a kit assembled by a user.

  • Publication number: 20110308225
Abstract: Handles allow hand tools, implements or other utensils to operate within their arc of natural use, motion and attack without requiring extension, flexion, radial deviation, or ulnar deviation of the wrist from the neutral plane of the forearm. The preferred embodiments further include a grip shaped to increase the effectiveness of the tool and minimize antagonism between muscles and tendons of the wrist, forearm and upper arm, while maximizing the effectiveness of the gripping force delivered to it by the user. Maintaining the wrist and forearm in a neutral position increases a tool user's potential strength by increasing the synergy between large muscles of the forearm and upper arm and shoulders. It also decreases compression of the tendons and nerves in the carpal tunnel and between the wrist and forearm.

  • Patent number: 8066127
Abstract: An apparatus and method for collecting whole blood and then separating it into components for subsequent use or storage. A self-contained bag set is used to collect the sample, which may then be placed into a device adapted to fit into a centrifuge for separation of components. Each component is then sequentially extracted according to density, with a sensor present in the device to control the operation of valves directing the collection of each component. The sensor may be reading one or more of the following characteristics: infrared, optics, density, weight, radioactive, fluorescence, color, magnetism, ultrasonic, capacitance wherein the characteristic is inherent in the blood and blood component or is an additive. Each component may then be separated into its own storage container. The preferred sensors include optics and weight.

  • Patent number: 8006474
Abstract: An improvement implement for cleaning ponds and the like includes features which facilitate multi-functional applications. The implement includes an open frame having a forward section with opposing side portions, a rearward section, an upper surface, a lower surface, and an inner surface. A plurality of tines extend downwardly from the lower surface of the forward portion of the frame. A net has a bottom defining a length and a periphery. A structure is provided for attaching the periphery of the net to the open frame such that the bottom of the net may be oriented above or below the plane of the frame without interfering with the tines. A handle attached to the rearward section of the flame.
