  • Patent number: 10957300
Abstract: A system for reducing far-field noise produced by well operations includes a passive sound barrier shielding an area, in which the well operations are performed, in an open-air environment. The system further includes a sound sensor to receive near-field noise from the well operations. The system further includes an analysis module, coupled to the sound sensor, to generate an anti-noise signal. The system further includes active anti-noise generators, coupled to the analysis module, to generate anti-noise, based on the anti-noise signal, that destructively interferes with noise from the well operations outside of the passive sound barrier at a predetermined distance from the passive sound barrier. The analysis module generates the anti-noise signal based on the near-field noise, the predetermined distance, and adjustable positions and orientations of the active anti-noise generators.

  • Patent number: 8511150
Abstract: Methods and systems for using force measurements to determine the amount of material in a container and/or the rate at which material is discharged from a container are disclosed. A container for storing a desired material is positioned so that the center of gravity of the container shifts horizontally with changes in level of the material in the container. A plurality of load sensors are symmetrically arranged at a base of the container and are used to monitor the amount of materials in the container.

  • Patent number: 8354602
Abstract: Methods and systems for accurate measurement of forces to determine the amount of materials in a container are disclosed. A weighing assembly is disclosed which includes a base plate, a plurality of bearing plates coupled to the base plate and a plurality of load sensors. Each of the plurality of load sensors is coupled to one of the plurality of bearing plates. A mounting block is symmetrically supported by the plurality of load sensors and a current measurement device measures a sum of currents output from the plurality of load sensors.

  • Patent number: 8122759
Abstract: Controlling a well injection operation, such as a well fracturing operation, includes identifying a flow characteristic of a fracturing fluid, identifying a flow characteristic of a base fluid used for forming the fracturing fluid, determining an amount of friction reduction change of the fracturing fluid, and adjusting the amount of friction reduction of the fracturing fluid to coincide with a selected friction reduction amount. Identifying a flow characteristic may be performed by a rheology measuring device including a measurement tube, a first pressure sensor disposed at a first position on the measurement tube, a second pressure sensor disposed at a second position on the measurement tube, a flow meter disposed at a third position along the measurement tube, a temperature sensor disposed at a fourth location along the measurement tube, and a control unit interconnected to the first and second pressure sensors, the flow meter, and the temperature sensor.

  • Publication number: 20100282520
Abstract: System and methods for determining the amount of materials contained in individual storage units in a storage device with multiple storage units are disclosed. A weight change of the storage device is detected and the position of the weight change is determined. The weight change is then attributed to a storage unit corresponding to the position of the weight change.

  • Patent number: 7819024
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for determining the instability of equipment by measuring the reaction forces at different points at the base of the equipment are disclosed. A plurality of load sensors are symmetrically arranged at the base of the equipment. A Cartesian coordinate system is then imposed on the base of the equipment with the center of the base being the origin of the Cartesian coordinate system. The X-axis and the Y-axis of the Cartesian coordinate system are arranged to define a plane corresponding to the base of the equipment. Each load sensor is then designated with Cartesian coordinates and the reaction force at each load sensor is determined. An overall instability factor for the equipment is then determined from the Cartesian coordinates of each load sensor and the reaction force at that load sensor.

  • Patent number: 7409901
Abstract: A variable stroke assembly enables the piston stroke length of a positive displacement pump to be varied while maintaining a substantially constant unswept volume in the piston cylinder. Alternatively, a variable stroke assembly enables the piston stroke length of a pump or an engine to be varied while maintaining a substantially constant compression ratio. In an embodiment, the variable stroke assembly comprises an automated system that varies the stroke length of the pump or engine piston via an actuator that may be actuated remotely. The automated system may further comprise a linkage assembly that is positioned by the actuator. In an embodiment, the linkage assembly comprises a crankshaft throw, a connecting rod connected to the crankshaft throw, a variable stroke component connected to the connecting rod, and a slider that traverses the variable stroke component to vary the stroke length of the piston.
