    Abstract: A method of treating chronic HCV infections is disclosed. The method involves the optional treatment of a patient with interferon alpha and the treatment of a patient's blood with a psoralen compound followed by ultra violet light-activation of the psoralen compound. The blood treated as such is returned to the patient in a process known as extracorporeal photopheresis.

    Abstract: A method of treating infections of mononuclear blood cells, other than retroviral infections, is disclosed. A method of modulating the function of monocytes is also disclosed. The method involves the treatment of a patient's blood with a photoactivatable compound followed by ultra violet light-activation of the photoactivatable compound. The blood treated as such is returned to the patient in a process known as extracorporeal photopheresis. Monocyte function is modulated by this treatment.

  • Pressure-reducing spray nozzle and use thereof in a froth flotation method

    Abstract: An improved spray apparatus for the froth flotation of a liquid-solid slurry, e.g., water-containing coal particulate, is disclosed. The initially high velocity of a spray of the slurry prior to its contacting the surface of liquid in a froth flotation cell is significantly reduced through a double deflection arrangement associated with the spray nozzle. This reduction in the velocity of the spray results in a more efficient froth flotation process.
