Abstract: The present invention discloses a waffle iron or cooking press that enables a user to cook a waffle and pancake simultaneously. This waffle iron or cooking press may include a lid and a base, where the base has a thicker profile that offers a reservoir to hold and cook the hybrid waffle-pancake. An insulated lid handle and insulated base handle are designed to enable a user to open, close, and flip the waffle iron during the cooking process. A hinge mechanism may connect the lid to the base. This mechanism keeps the lid and base attached in the closed position and when the user opens the waffle iron, but also enables the user to detach the lid from the base. The lid and base each include complementary textured cooking surfaces and flat cooking surfaces.
