  • Publication number: 20100089480
Abstract: A multi-walled tubing assembly includes an outer corrugated tube and an inner tube received in the outer tube, and may receive an insert. The inner tube is made from a resilient material. The outer tube is structurally rigid. The insert may be plain and used in conjunction with one or more adhesives. The insert may include a section with barbs or teeth which, once inserted into the inner tube, engage with the corrugations of the outer tube. Some embodiments result in a good seal and mechanically fix the tubing assembly.

  • Publication number: 20080225841
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for low power IDLE signal transmission in Ethernet networks are provided. In this regard, during time periods between transmissions of actual data by a local Ethernet link partner, the local Ethernet Link partner may generate one or more signals, in place of a standard Ethernet IDLE signal, that enable synchronization between Ethernet link partners. In this manner, the generated signals may enable reducing power consumption as compared to standard Ethernet IDLE signals. Accordingly, link activity may be monitored to enable detecting periods when there may be no actual data for transmission and the generated signals may be transmitted. The generated signals may be transmitted at a reduced symbol rate as compared to standard Ethernet IDLE signals. The generated signals may be transmitted via fewer network links as compared to standard Ethernet IDLE signals.

  • Publication number: 20080069014
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for extended range Ethernet link discovery signaling are provided. A local PHY may detect of one or more active twisted-pair wires in a remote PHY in extended range applications. The local PHY may determine whether to operate as a master or slave based on detected pairs. When operating as a master device, the local PHY may correct twisted-pair wire swap information received from the remote PHY before communicating an encoded link length value to the remote PHY. When operating as a slave device, the local PHY may transmit encoded twisted-pair wire swap information to the remote PHY before recovering a link length value communicated from the remote PHY. The local PHY may communicate supported operating modes based on the link length value to the remote PHY. Moreover, the local PHY may enable establishing a common full duplex operating mode with the remote PHY.

  • Publication number: 20080013278
Abstract: A fluid compensation apparatus is configured to provide replacement fluid to a fluid-based cooling loop, while removing dissolved gas or gas in gross bubbles from the cooling loop. Removal or reduction of gas from the cooling loop reduces or prevents pump vapor lock. The removed gas is retained within the fluid compensation apparatus. The fluid compensation apparatus is configured to prevent the trapped gas from being re-introduced to the fluid-based cooling loop, regardless of the orientation of the fluid compensation apparatus. Additionally, the fluid compensation apparatus is configured to remove gas from and add fluid to the cooling loop with limited or no pressure drop between the inlet port and the outlet port of the fluid compensation apparatus. As a result, the pump does not require additional power to compensate for such a pressure differential.

  • Publication number: 20080013457
Abstract: A programmable channel-swap crossbar switch for swapping signal flow from one channel to another within an Ethernet physical layer device (PHY) is presented. The crossbar switch includes two or more programmed multiplexers, each multiplexer configured to receive two or more input signals and to select which one of the input signals to pass to a programmed corresponding channel, such that a first input signal associated with a first channel can be swapped to a second channel as operating conditions necessitate. The crossbar switch can be used for Ethernet communications with various communication speeds, such as 10BaseT, 100BaseT, and Gigabit communications. A crossbar switch can be used in both a transmit path and a receive path. Two crossbar switches may be used in a receive path in order to undo channel swapping for control signal processing. A method of channel-swapping in an Ethernet PHY communications system is also presented.

  • Publication number: 20070256815
Abstract: A scalable and modular cooling system is disclosed. The cooling system includes an air plenum with a plurality of expansion slots. Each expansion slot is configured to receive a modularly configured fluid-to-air heat exchanger, such as a radiator. The air plenum also include one or more air movers for blowing air through the expansion slots, and therefore through any radiators fitted within the expansion slots. For those expansion slots that are not used, a blanking plate is fitted to each unused expansion slot. Each blanking plate is modularly configured in a manner similar to the modularly configured radiators. In this manner, air bypass is substantially prevented. Each radiator is part of an independent cooling loop, used directly or indirectly to cool heat generating devices.

  • Publication number: 20070227708
Abstract: An integrated cooling system for cooling systems such as laptops or subsystems such as a graphics card is disclosed. An integrated cooling system includes a first layer having a contact area configured for coupling to a heat source, wherein the first layer has a fluid path passes adjacent to the contact area where the heat source is in thermal contact with first layer. Coupled to the first layer is a second layer to which a number of air fins are attached. The invention includes a pump that is connected to the fluid path forming a closed path for circulating a fluid through the first layer. Within the first layer, the fluid path will contain a plurality of fluid fins which control the flow of a fluid within the fluid path. Within the fluid path, a structure providing a double-counter flow adjacent to one or more electronic devices. Additionally the fluid path can include a microchannel plate structure.
