  • Publication number: 20080108947
Abstract: There is disclosed a catheter holding device for use with a urethral catheter in a urodynamic testing procedure. In one embodiment, the device includes a catheter holding arm for holding the urethral catheter directly in front of the urethra during the urodynamic testing procedure. In another embodiment, there is disclosed a method of holding a urethral catheter. The method includes attaching a base portion of a urodynamic catheter holder to an inner thigh of a patient; extending a catheter holding arm away from the base portion, toward an external urethral meatus of the patient; and securing a catheter to the catheter holding arm at a position substantially in alignment with a urinary lumen of the patient. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20060293554
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the disclosure provide a surgical instrument and its methods of use. In particular embodiments, the surgical instrument includes first and second arcuate arms, a coupling section connecting the first and second arms, and a material mounting section. In certain embodiments, the second arm is telescopingly mounted in the first arm. In further embodiments, the first and second arms are hingeably connected. A removable sleeve may be placed over the hinge to prevent the first and second arms from moving with respect to one another. In other embodiments, the first arm includes a locking ridge configured to fit in a mating groove of the second arm. The first arm may be biased towards the second arm. Certain methods of using the surgical instruments include making first and second incisions, inserting the first and second arms into respective first and second incisions, and rotating the surgical instrument.

  • Publication number: 20060123956
Abstract: The present invention is a hand tool comprising a pair of handles that rotate about a pivot point. The proximal end of the handles may be covered in an electrically insulating material in order to aid in insulating the hands of the user from electrical shock and cushion the grip of the tool. A jaw member of thin cross-section may be affixed to the distal end of the handles or formed in the distal end of the handles. The unique shape of the portion of each jaw member grips the locknut. Each jaw member is designed in such a manner that, when the hand tool's handles are closed, each jaw member independently engages one or more of the locknut protrusions. A method of tightening and loosening locknuts using a hand tool with the distal end of the handles forming a shaped jaw member for gripping the locknut.

  • Patent number: 7057628
Abstract: The invention provides a method to automatically create high quality computer-based drawings by virtually eliminating text and graphics overwrites. This has broad practical application to a class of problems where drawings are created or updated from a non-graphic database. This is achieved through the representation of graphics as a set of bitmap images. As graphic elements are placed onto a drawing plane they contribute to the composition of a drawing's ‘committed’ bitmap. The proposed addition of new graphic elements onto the drawing plane is represented by a second ‘tentative’ bitmap. The white space algorithm uses efficient logical AND and logical OR bit manipulations to track and compare these bitmap images and determine if white space is available for placement of the proposed new graphic elements. When acceptable space is located the proposed graphics are simultaneously added to the drawing plane and inserted into the drawing's ‘committed’ bitmap.

  • Publication number: 20050097708
Abstract: The present invention is a shock-absorbing apparatus that dampens the impact between a hand and an impact tool 120. The apparatus includes a handle 110 that can be gripped in the hand and allow the impact tool 120 movement within the handle 110. A shock-absorbing means 130 provides a shock-absorbing function to the handle 110. A stopping means 132 limits the movement of one end of the impact tool 120. The handle 110 may include a flange extending from the upper region of the handle 110 to provide protection from hand injury, and a gripping surface on the exterior of the handle 110 that cushions and enhances the grip and control of the impact tool 120.
