  • Patent number: 5340218
Abstract: The bag for friable material comprises a bottom surface panel for defining the bottom of the bag with respect to the vertical sides and the top portions of the bag when the bag is filled. The bag includes a discharge opening in the bottom surface panel which is defined by surrounding portions of the bottom surface panel. A foldable discharge spout is connected to the surrounding portions of the bottom surface panel for being maintained within the discharge opening when the beg is filled. A closure flap covers the discharge opening and the spout for being pulled open when the bag is filled. When the flap is pulled open, the spout unfolds under the weight of the contents and permits those contents to discharge. A pull strap is connected to the closure flap and has a length sufficient for portions to extend outwardly from one of the vertical sides of the bag.

  • Patent number: 4390051
Abstract: The invention relates to improvements in securing a liner within a flexible container such as an intermediate bulk container. The container has a plurality of first attachment members in the form of connecting ring and mounting straps therefor attached to the exterior of the container adjacent the upper and lower peripheries thereof. The liner has corresponding second attachment members at the top and bottom thereof. Each bottom liner attachment member includes a strap which can pass through a corresponding opening adjacent the bottom of the container and which is provided with an appropriate connector for connection to the corresponding connecting ring on the exterior of the bag. The top liner attachment members is similar to the bottom liner attachment members and, if no cover for the container is required, will pass over the upper edge of the container for connection to an appropriate upper connecting ring.

  • Patent number: 4300608
Abstract: A self-raising strap loop is described, for use with a flexible, stackable container. The strap loop includes a strap which is flexible, and resilient means associated with the strap so that when the container is subjected to stacking forces the strap loop will lie substantially flat on the container, but when the stacking forces are removed, the loop will be forced to assume an upstanding position ready to receive a lifting device such as a fork of a fork-lift truck. The resilient means may be a resilient plastics or metallic insert enveloped by the strap, either in the form of a flat strip or a plurality of wires. The resilient means may also take the form of plastics or metallic wires woven into or being the warp threads of a woven strap. The resilient means may also be an impregnating material within a woven strap to render it semi-rigid. By using the self-raising strap loop it becomes unnecessary to pre-orient a lifting strap prior to engagement with a suitable lifting device.
