  • Patent number: 5815841
Abstract: A novelty hat in the form of a ball cap having a visor defining an opening in which a miniature basketball net is mounted. The miniature net is held in position in the opening by a rim of molded plastic including respective flanges circumscribing the opening, on both the top and the bottom of the visor. A miniature basketball fits through the rim, but the opening in the bottom of the net is small enough to keep the ball from passing all the way down through the net. A keeper mounted on the rim is selectively movable to a position extending above a portion of the ball to hold the ball in the net and thus prevent the ball from being lost when the hat is not being worn.

  • Patent number: 5406709
Abstract: A bladed tool for use as a sod cutter, for breaking up the soil in gardens and as an edger. An elongate handle is attached to a blade having first, second and third edges which generally define a triangle. The handle is attached to the blade immediately adjacent the first edge so as to extend away from the second edge substantially parallel to the first edge. A plurality of serrations are disposed along the third edge. The serrations are preferably separated by grooves formed in the face of the blade, extending substantially parallel to the first edge, and grooves terminating at the third edge in respective notches. The serrations are about as wide or wider than the notches and the tips of the serrations are relatively wide in relation to the notches. Each serration has a leading edge and a trailing edge, the trailing edge having a portion substantially parallel to the first edge and a portion near the tip thereof which is beveled on one side of the blade so as to form a cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 5045195
Abstract: A portable personal water filtration and purification device which includes an elongate tubular filter housing with layers of mechanical filtration and contains a layer of granular activated charcoal impregnated with silver located between the layers of mechanical filter medium. A mouthpiece limits the rate of flow of water through the filter unit, while making it convenient to draw water through the filter. In one embodiment, a filter unit is attached to a flexible drinking tube and the filter unit is located within a portable water container conveniently carried by a person.

  • Patent number: 4483019
Abstract: A dry diving suit has a protective piece which extends completely around each leg, the underlying material of the leg and the protective piece being united longitudinally only at the inseam. A two-layer leg is thus provided with but one longitudinal seam. Each leg is glued at its lower edge to a latex sock. The protective piece is seamed circumferentially to the leg above the glue line of the sock. The inseam extends vertically down only to the circumferential seam of the protective piece.
