  • Patent number: 8797210
Abstract: A remote tracking system is described including one or more remote tracking devices and a monitoring center. The remote tracking device includes a tamper-resistant housing intended to be held securely to a wearer by a strap, a positioning system receiver in the housing and operable to receive signals indicative of the location of the remote tracking device, a cellular transceiver in the housing and operable to communicate with the monitoring center, and a processor in the housing and in electrical communication with the positioning system receiver and the cellular transceiver, the processor operable to monitor a status for the remote tracking device. The remote tracking system is able to compare the location of the remote tracking device with a set of pre-programmed rules and establish a two-way voice communication between the wearer and the monitoring center upon the occurrence of certain programmable conditions in the remote tracking system.

  • Patent number: 8232876
Abstract: A system for monitoring an individual is described where the system includes a fixed beacon at a known location, the fixed beacon periodically emitting a signal indicating the identity of the beacon, a remote tracking device securely affixed to the individual, the remote tracking device including a short range transceiver, a long range transceiver, and a rule set establishing operating parameters for the remote tracking device, wherein the short range transceiver is operable to receive the signal from the beacon and to use the signal to determine compliance with one or more rules in the rule set, and a monitoring center monitoring the status of the remote tracking device using data sent by the remote tracking device using the long range transceiver.

  • Patent number: 8031077
Abstract: A remote tracking and communication device comprising a housing which encloses a processor, a memory, a position locator, a first transmitter, and a second transmitter. Each of the latter components are electronically coupled to the processor. Both the first and second transmitters are adapted to send and receive wireless voice and data signals in a digital format. The device further comprises a first battery, which is removably affixed to the housing and electronically coupled to each component within the housing, a speaker and a microphone electronically coupled to the first transmitter, and a button electronically coupled to the processor. When pressed, the button is adapted to activate voice communications with a call center using the first transmitter.

  • Patent number: 7936262
Abstract: A remote tracking system is described that includes one or more remote tracking devices, where each remote tracking device including a cellular transceiver, a positioning system receiver, and a processor connected to the positioning system receiver and the cellular transceiver. A dedicated monitoring center is in communication with each of the remote tracking devices and includes a monitoring center application to process and store the location information and status information received from each of the at least one remote tracking device. The monitoring center also includes agents available as an initial contact point when the monitoring center application determines that attention to a particular remote tracking device is required. The system further includes a portal through which an authorized user responsible for one or more of the at least one remote tracking device can access information related to each of the remote tracking devices.

  • Patent number: 7545318
Abstract: A remote tracking device for use in a remote tracking system is described. The remote tracking device includes a positioning system receiver, such as GPS, operable to receive signals indicative of the location of the remote tracking device, a cellular transceiver operable to communicate with the central monitoring center, and a processor connected to the positioning system receiver and the cellular transceiver, the processor operable to monitor at least one environmental condition for the remote tracking device, and to adjust the frequency of an operation of the remote tracking devices based on the at least one environmental condition. The environmental condition may include the devices rate of movement, proximity to an area of interest, time of day, or other condition in response to which it would be desirable to alter the frequency of operation of the remote tracking device.
