    Abstract: A water and moisture sealed, self contained, compact, long term, ambulatory physio-kinetic monitor is designed for mounting directly to the skin of an athlete or fitness performer, preferably immediately adjacent to the organ or system that is to be monitored, and is adhesively held there in place, covertly and comfortably, under clothing by disposable electrode, adhesive skin pads. At least three positive electrodes and a common negative electrode extend from the monitor and attach by similar disposable adhesive electrode pads to detect physiological, e.g. ECG data. Accelerometer means disposed within the monitor detects body movement and likewise stores that data on a third ECG data channel.

    Abstract: The invention discloses a method and an apparatus for creating an elementary optical disc master with but a single layer to be applied to a disc substrate to form pits having ideal shapes and without berm buildup. These ideally shaped pits are improvements in the technology of disc mastering, due to the manufacturing and data playback advantages that are inherent in the ideally shaped pits. An optically active lamina consisting of a dye polymer solution of nitrocellulose and a increased dye additive is spin coated directly to a pregrooved polycarbonate substrate to enable the recording of data on the disc by laser means in the form of pits. The pits are created by having a data modulated laser focusing on the optically active lamina which reacts to the irradiation causing a pit to be formed. The resulting pit more often than not possesses a residual raised berm area surrounding the pit, in what is considered to be a less than ideal shape for a pit.

    Abstract: The invention discloses a method and an apparatus for creating an optical disc master by forming pits having ideal shapes and without berm buildup. These ideally shaped pits are improvements in the technology of disc mastering, due to the manufacturing and data playback advantages that are inherent in the ideally shaped pits. A disc substrate has a very thin partially reflective layer applied to the surface of the optical disc upon which data will be recorded. The substance used to make the partially reflective layer is normally considered opaque in more commonly occurring thicknesses. However, the partially reflective layer, is created to be so extremely thin that it becomes partially optically transparent. The partially reflective layer then has spin coated, thereon, an optically active lamina to enable the recording of data on the disc by laser means in the form of pits.

    Abstract: The invention discloses a simplified four step process for making an optical disc master or alternatively a WORM disc by first making or obtaining a transparent polymer disc with a tracking groove of desired geometry molded therein, then spin coating an optically active lamina on the grooved side of the disc, then recording data on said polymer disc with groove controlled and tracked laser means by ablating active lamina, forming pits, the shape of which is determined by the groove geometry and finally depositing a conductive and reflective lamina over the pitted active lamina. To change the OD master to an OD WORM, a protective cover is added to the electrically conductive and optically reflective lamina.

    Abstract: The specification discloses a self propelled stress testing apparatus for providing graded levels of exercise and for measuring human energy output. An adjustable frictional load calibrated in terms of patient weight and operatively coupled to a pair of translational platforms provides the exercising drag force to a flywheel against which the effort of the user is applied. Reciprocal exercising motion applied to the translational platforms is converted into rotary motion via a pair of unidirectional sprockets. Alternative embodiments employing bifilar and elastically centered slideable guide platform configurations are disclosed as well as special adaptions for use in a weightless space environment.
