  • Patent number: 4956111
Abstract: A pour point depressant for lubricating oils comprises a poly(methacrylate) polymer having the repeating unit ##STR1## wherein R is an alkyl group having an average chain length in the polymer of 12.6 to 13.8, and n is an integer indicating the number of repeating units, the value of n being sufficient to provide a molecular weight of 10,000 to 300,000 for the polymer, the pour point depressant having the capacity to reduce the stable pour point to -35.degree. C., while being compatible with other additives such as viscosity index improvers and detergents.
