  • Publication number: 20040253973
Abstract: A context efficient keyboard entry method uses default keypad maps based on statistical information and the context of the currently entered message in order to improve character entry efficiency. In one embodiment of the invention, different keypad maps are used for the first letter, second letter and Rest Of Word (ROW). In another embodiment, the characters assigned to each keypad key are arranged based on alpha character profile usage while alphabetical order is maintained. In still another embodiment, dynamic keypad labeling is used to change from two key entry modes such as numeric mode or alpha (or alpha numeric) modes, or between a dialing mode and a text entry mode.

  • Patent number: 5856970
Abstract: An echo canceller (500) utilizes a central control unit (502) (CCU) and at least one convolution processing unit (504) (CPU) to perform echo cancellation on one or more channels. A method for operating the echo canceller (500) controls reading (706) one or more reference signals (510) and reflected signals (512), convolution and adaptive processing (11, 21, 31, 41) using the CPUs (504), and post-processing (702) to produce one or more echo cancelled signals (514). Convolution and adaptive processing for multiple channels can be performed simultaneously (11, 31) by multiple CPUs (504), or in a time-multiplexed manner (11, 21) by a single CPU (504), or a combination (11, 21, 31, 41) of simultaneous and time-multiplexing by multiple CPUs (504). CCU (502) is able to perform processing functions (702-730) while CPUs (504) perform convolution and adaptive processing (11, 21, 31, 41).

  • Patent number: 5644317
Abstract: An automatic vehicle location system (10) includes a radio positioning system receiver (14) which receives GPS radio signals (18) and includes a two-gimbaled gyroscope (22), which is used by a dead-reckoning positioning system. A controller (43) determines position based upon the radio positioning system when the radio signals (18) are available and upon dead-reckoning when the radio signals (18) are not available. The dead-reckoning process is based upon a compensation factor which is established in response to data received from the radio positioning system (14). The compensation factor acts as an adjustment to an inner gimbal angle to compensate for a minor drift away from level by the inner gimbal (32).
