  • Patent number: 9624766
Abstract: A system and method to quantify damage to a gravel pack screen include the use of a flux leakage tool to record electromagnetic field measurements at a plurality of points on the gravel pack screen. The system also includes a processor to obtain the electromagnetic field measurements recorded at the plurality of points and to suppress a baseline signal associated with electromagnetic field measurements resulting from perforations of the gravel pack screen to isolate and quantify flux leakage resulting from the damage to the gravel pack screen from flux leakage resulting from the perforations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 9, 2014
Date of Patent: April 18, 2017
    Assignee: BAKER HUGHES INCORPORATED
    Inventors: Ian Draper, Bruce Girrell

  • Publication number: 20060202686
Abstract: A casing inspection device with magnets and a multi-component flux sensors. The multicomponent sensor enables better definition of the size of defects, particularly in the azimuthal direction.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20060202700
Abstract: A casing inspection device with magnets and flux sensors. The sensors provide measurements of absolute levels of magnetic flux that are indicative of changes in casing thickness and/or permeability.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20060202685
Abstract: A casing inspection device with magnets and flux sensors. Measurements of axial motion of the device are used to get better definition of the axial extent of casing defects. A contact device may be used for motion measurement. The output of the contact device may be used to control the acquisition of flux measurements direction.
