  • Publication number: 20240032426
Abstract: A method for producing a temperature difference between the sides of a Thermo-Electric Generator (TEG) for generating electrical power are described. Water is used to saturate a wicking material in thermal communication with at least one thermal conductor, such as metal tubing or wires, whereby one side of the TEG is cooled by the reduction of heat caused by the evaporation of the liquid from the material, and transferred to the TEG by the at least one thermal conductor. The other side of the TEG is maintained in a dry condition, and exposed to ambient conditions, thereby remaining at ambient temperature and, as a result, containing more heat than the cooled side.

  • Patent number: 11089740
Abstract: A green wall system includes a plurality of potted plants positioned within respective pots to form a wall of vegetation. The pots can be mounted to a support element and plumbing and electrical utilities of the green wall system can be positioned within a utility column adjacent to the wall of vegetation. The utility column can span from a bottom of the green wall system to a top of the green wall system. A fluid reservoir and a pump to pump fluid from the reservoir to the potted plants can be positioned within the utility column.

  • Publication number: 20150289773
Abstract: A device having an arterial pulse sensor that is adhered to the hypothenar region of a palm using an adhesive patch. The patch has an adhesive surface that is covered by a removable film with an outer portion and a central portion. Also disclosed is a method of detecting an arterial pulse by providing an arterial pulse sensor, placing the sensor on the hypothenar region of the palm of a hand, and receiving an arterial pulse signal from the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20100052896
Abstract: A system and method for detecting falls is disclosed herein. A mobile pressure sensor is used to generate a mobile pressure signal and a reference pressure sensor at a reference height above a surface is used to generate a reference pressure signal. A processor in communication with the mobile pressure sensor and the reference pressure sensor is used to perform the steps of: (i) determining a height above the surface of the mobile pressure sensor based on the reference height and the reference pressure signal and the mobile pressure signal; and (ii) if the height is below a threshold height, determining that a fall has occurred.

  • Publication number: 20060230539
Abstract: A bed elevating box spring foundation method and apparatus for use between a mattress and a bed frame. The bed elevating foundation apparatus is made of an outer substantially rigid frame and has opposite spaced apart first and second ends. The first end has a first height and the second end has a second height with the first height being greater than the second height. The bed elevating box spring foundation apparatus also has a top surface that extends substantially in a single angularly extending plane with respect to the ground surface. The box spring is inserted or otherwise disposed between the supported mattress and the underlying bed frame whereby the mattress first end is elevated above the mattress second end in a single angularly extending plane with respect to the ground surface. In one form, the box spring foundation includes a wedge-shaped foam member and in another includes a set of springs of varying heights.
