  • Publication number: 20060272292
Abstract: A device and method for stacking product into a container in a vertical orientation. The device includes at least one pivoting mechanism pivotable between a loading position and an initial/final position The at least one pivoting mechanism retains a container thereon. The device may further include at least one corresponding diverting mechanism for injecting product into the container. The diverting mechanism includes a feeding area and a diverting arm swingable between an open position and a closed position. In the open position, the diverting arm allows product to enter the feeding area. An ejection station is positioned proximate to the feeding area and injects the product into the container after the product enters the feeding area via movement of the diverting arm. In one aspect the ejection station is provided by a pinch belt arrangement and is controlled by a control.

  • Publication number: 20060180519
Abstract: An operational process for product distribution includes grouping product into groups when the product is in a first sort level and sorting the groups of product, in a first pass operation, to a second level sort. The method further includes sequencing the second level sort product including late arriving product, in a second pass operation, into a sequence of product. A machine readable code can also be used to implement the functionality of the operational process.

  • Publication number: 20060173898
Abstract: A method or process and system of confirming an ordering of products includes generating a database of product information associated with a plurality of product and comparing the product information of the plurality of product in a sorting pass process to the product information assigned in the database to verify an order of the plurality of product in the sorting pass process. The process may additionally include reading pertinent information associated with a plurality of product during a sorting operation and populating a database with the pertinent information for use during a subsequent sorting operation. In the subsequent sorting operation, the process includes comparing what is actually read during the subsequent sorting operation against what should have been read based on assignments made in the database of the pertinent information during the sorting operation.

  • Publication number: 20050241968
Abstract: An expandable and collapsible holder which has a top surface and a bottom, releasable surface. Opposing side walls are hinge mounted between the top surface and the bottom surface. A latch mechanism and actuator such as a solenoid control the opening of the bottom, releasable surface. A system is also provided which uses the expandable holder.

  • Publication number: 20050207879
Abstract: A system and method for loading product onto a conveyor. The system includes a conveyor movable in at least a first direction and a metering section located proximate to at an end of the conveyor. The metering section includes a plate mechanism movable between a first position and a second position and a door adapted to be opened to a feeder. The door is at least partially supporting a predetermined amount of product and is positioned between a movable distance of the plate.

  • Publication number: 20050173312
Abstract: A method using a single pass sequencer having a transport system for transporting the mail pieces to a transport system having a first carriage system and a second carriage system with a plurality of holders slidable between the first carriage system and the second carriage system with packaged output. Each of the plurality of holders holding a mail piece of the mail pieces received from the transport system. The method includes assigning a code to: (i) the mail pieces based on the destination information, (ii) the plurality of holders on the first carriage, and (iii) a position on the second carriage which corresponds to the initial sequence and a destination sequence of the mail pieces.

  • Publication number: 20050107910
Abstract: A system and method for filling containers is provided. The method includes assigning variables associated with at least one container and a number of drop points and determining at least one threshold value based on the variables. The product are then distributed within the at least one container for each drop point based on the determined at least one threshold value. The system includes a mechanism for accomplishing the method steps.

  • Publication number: 20050040084
Abstract: A system and method that sequences product to increase machine throughput. A plurality of input feeding devices each randomly receives products from a stream of product. A plurality of output groups corresponding to the plurality of input feeding devices are provided during a first pass phase and a second pass phase. The plurality of input feeding devices feed the product to output bins of the plurality of output groups. A control has a first mode of operation and a second mode of operation for a first pass phase and a second pass phase, respectively. In the first mode, the control allows all input feeding devices of the plurality of input feeding devices complete access to all output groups of the plurality of output groups during the first pass phase. In the second mode, the control constrains placement of the products to output groups assigned in the first pass phase such that the groupings of the products to the assigned output groups remain constant between the first pass phase and the second pass phase.

  • Publication number: 20050038555
Abstract: A system and method that sequences product to increase machine throughput and capacity. The system includes a plurality of input feeding devices each randomly receiving product received from a stream of product and a plurality of output groups each having output bins. A control has a mode which constrains the input feeding devices to (i) feeding non-rejected product from the stream of product to assigned output groups of the plurality of output groups associated with a corresponding one of the plurality of input feeding devices based on a code associated with each of the product, and (ii) feeding rejected product to at least one output bin in a single group of the plurality of output groups such that each of the plurality of input feeders has access to the at least one output bin. The method includes feeding the non-rejected and rejected product to appropriate output bins such that the rejected product is provided to an output bin which is accessible by any of the input feeding devices.

  • Patent number: 6575450
Abstract: An improved singulation mechanism is provided for flat articles having significant variations in size, thickness and weight, which mechanism utilizes at least two vacuum chambers positioned behind a moving perforated to feed the articles and selectively controls at least one of pressure and flow for at least one of the chambers to facilitate the feeding of heavier articles, while inhibiting bleed through doubles for lighter articles. A mechanism may be provided which provides a puff of air to at least one of the chambers at the end of the operation thereof to reduce the feeding of doubles and a bent fence may be suitably positioned to both facilitate feeding of shorter articles and to facilitate proper initial alignment of the articles.
