    Abstract: A composition as described herein for treating an exposed area for dust control and soil erosion stabilization is provided, the composition comprising: (i) about 30 to about 80% dissolved biopolymer solution by volume; (ii) about 10 to about 20% dissolved carbohydrate solution by volume; (iii) about 0.02 to about 0.25% nonionic surfactant solution by volume; and (iv) water that makes up a remaining volume to 100% wherein the composition is effectively free from magnesium chloride and calcium chloride. In one aspect, the composition as described herein may be free, substantially free, or effectively free from oil-based and hydrophobic content. A method for using the composition to treat an exposed surface for dust control and soil erosion stabilization is also provided.
