  • Patent number: 9454909
Abstract: A training simulation depicts an assailant presenting a weapon to engage a trainee to simulate a deadly force encounter. The simulation has a recognition portion that is representative of the assailant presenting the weapon to engage the trainee. In accordance with a step of the method, the trainee is instructed by presenting the recognition portion to the trainee at least three times: a first time weapon pattern recognition presentation being the presentation of the recognition portion of the simulation at first speed corresponding to real time, a second time weapon pattern recognition presentation being the presentation of the recognition portion of the simulation at a second speed that is less than the first speed, and a third time weapon pattern recognition presentation being the presentation of the recognition portion of the simulation at a third speed that is less than the first speed but greater than the second speed.

  • Patent number: 8782937
Abstract: A firearm has a safety index that may be an elongate depression or an elongate convexity formed on a frame of the firearm adjacent a trigger of the firearm, and may further include a plurality of raised dots. The safety index is configured to allow a user of the firearm to move between the safety index and the trigger, as necessary, for instance, as the user goes between non-firing and firing conditions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 17, 2012
Date of Patent: July 22, 2014
Inventors: David A. Grossman, Jonathon D. Grossman, Bruce K. Siddle
  • Patent number: 8671605
Abstract: An off-trigger locator for firearm comprises an elongated member adapted to mounted to a frame of the firearm adjacent a trigger of the firearm. The member is configured to allow a user of the firearm to sense the member with a trigger finger of the user and to move the trigger finger between the member and the trigger without significant movement of a hand of the user. The member comprises longitudinally opposite first and second ends with longitudinal sides extending between the longitudinally opposite ends. A locator surface is arranged between the longitudinal sides. The longitudinal side adjacent the trigger of the firearm forms a shoulder. The other longitudinal side is spaced from the shoulder by the locator surface. The width of the member at the shoulder is greater than the width of the member at the other longitudinal side. A method of mounting the off-trigger locator is provided.

  • Patent number: 8087344
Abstract: A recoil operating pistol has a barrel and slide with at least a pair of flat mating surfaces extending along a substantial length of both the barrel and slide parallel to each other on opposite sides of the barrel. The matching flat surfaces of the barrel and slide allow relative sliding motion between the slide and the barrel when the at least a portion of the barrel is received in the hollow interior of the slide.
