    Abstract: A flextensional transducer assembly having a single flextensional cell with a transducer housed with a platten. The transducer expands and contracts in a transverse direction to cause inverse movement in the platten in the axial direction. The platten may include either an elbow at the intersection of walls or corrugated pattern along the top and bottom walls. The platten is manufactured from one piece using Electrical Discharge Machining. A load is applied to the platten to then slot in the transducer into the platten before releasing the load to mechanically capture the transducer.

    Abstract: The present invention provides methods and systems for controlling transductive structures to achieve a desired performance objective. According to one aspect, the present invention provides a controller which simulates a synthetic admittance or impedance when coupled to a bicoupled device and effectively cancels the reactance of the bicoupled device. Cancelling the reactance of the bicoupled device allows energy to be reflected back into an energy storage portion of the circuit resulting in an energy efficient damping and/or control system.

    Abstract: An electronic ballast circuit includes a direct drive high frequency inverter circuit with a tuned output circuit and a drive circuit dependent upon current flow in a load circuit. The high frequency inverter circuit is coupled to a DC potential source which is derived from a pulsed DC potential source by way of a charge storage and charge isolating circuit. An oscillator provides a starting capability for the high frequency inverter circuit and is essentially removed from the active circuitry upon energization of the high frequency inverter circuit.
