  • Patent number: 8416513
Abstract: A book holding apparatus with a magnifying visible area is configured with a bottom section, a left support arm, a right support arm, an upper section, a power supply plug, and a plurality of accessories. The bottom section is attached to the upper section by the left support arm and the right support arm. The upper section includes at least two light-emitting diode (LED) light strips and a fresnel lens. The power supply plug is electrically connected to the at least two LED light strips, and the at least two LED light strips provides the necessary illumination to the upper section. When the users place reading materials on the bottom section, they are able to see a magnified view of the reading materials through the fresnel lens, and the plurality of accessories provides additional functionality for the book holding apparatus with a magnifying visible area.

  • Publication number: 20120321462
Abstract: An improved wind turbine blade design is disclosed. The wind turbine blade includes a plurality of pivotable blade segments. Each blade segment has a leading edge segment and a trailing edge segment. At least one sensor is configured to measure a performance condition associated with the blade segment. An actuator is configured to pivot the blade segment to change an angle of attack based on the performance condition.

  • Publication number: 20110132444
Abstract: Solar cells and methods for their manufacture are disclosed. An exemplary method may include providing a semiconductor substrate and introducing dopant atoms to a front surface of the substrate. The substrate may be annealed to drive the dopant atoms deeper in the substrate to produce a p-n junction while also forming front and back passivation layers. A reflective surface is sputtered on the back surface of the solar cell. It protects and generates hydrogen to passivate one or more substrate-passivation layer interfaces at the same time as forming an anti-reflective layer on the front surface of the substrate. Fire-through of front and back contacts as well as metallization with contact connections may be performed in a single co-firing operation. Associated solar cells are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20060140469
Abstract: Communicating and matching electronic files for a check adjustment case comprises communicating an electronic check adjustment message comprising key data relating to the case, communicating an electronic image of a document to follow (“DTF”) related to the case, associating the key data with the electronic DTF image, determining whether the electronic message's key data matches the key data associated with the electronic DTF image, and linking the electronic message to the electronic DTF image in response to a determination that the electronic message's key data matches the key data associated with the electronic DTF image. If the DTF image's key data does not match the message's key data, matching electronic files can comprise correcting errors in the key data associated with the electronic DTF image and performing a secondary match routine. An operator accesses the electronic message and the linked DTF image to resolve the check adjustment case.

  • Patent number: 5133712
Abstract: A hair grasping device includes a pair of hair engaging surfaces spring biased to a closed or engaged position in which a hair is grasped therebetween. The device further includes a first clamping member which is pivotally disposed with respect to a housing. The first clamping member includes the first hair engaging surface. A spring disposed within the housing biases the first hair engaging surface toward the second hair engaging surface of a second clamping member. A thumb wheel is employed to pivot the first clamping member against the bias of the spring. The thumb wheel is also used to actuate a switch which connects a high frequency energy source to one of the hair engaging surfaces to destroy the papilla area of a grasped hair.

  • Patent number: 4994061
Abstract: A hair grasping device includes a pair of hair engaging surfaces spring biased to a closed or engaged position in which a hair is grasped therebetween. The device further includes a first clamping member which is slidably disposed with respect to the housing. The first clamping member includes the first hair engaging surface. A spring disposed within the housing biases the first hair engaging surface toward the second hair engaging surface of a second clamping member. High frequency electrical energy is applied to one of the hair engaging surfaces to destroy a grasped hair in the papilla area.
