  • Publication number: 20160213923
Abstract: An electrical venous stimulation apparatus comprising an electrical signal generator, the signal generator configured to generate a specified electrical output signal. The apparatus also includes a plurality of electrodes in electrical communication with the signal generator and configured to be placed in electrical communication with a subject. The electrical output signal sent to the subject includes an output voltage, electrical current, and waveform that changes with time in a preprogrammed repeating cycle. The output voltage, electrical current, and waveform are configured to elicit a physiological response that stimulates a plurality of peripheral nerves in the subject, activates a venous muscle pump mechanism in one or more limbs of the subject, and non-invasively alter the physiology of target vein(s), wherein the target vein(s) is caused to distend from under the surface of the subject's skin.

  • Publication number: 20160209196
Abstract: A stemming plug (10) for stemming a blast hole in a mine, the plug (10) comprising an active wedge-shaped member (12) having a sloping face received in sliding relationship with a matching face of a passive wedge-shaped member (14). In use, the active wedge-shaped member (12) is positioned nearest to an explosive material in the blast hole and the passive wedge-shaped member (14) is positioned further from the explosive material in the blast hole. The active wedge-shaped member (12) has a friction reducing material provided on at least part of its surface to reduce the sliding resistance of the active wedge-shaped member (12) relative to the passive wedge-shaped member (14); whereby, in use, when a shockwave from initiation of the explosive material in the blast hole encounters the active wedge-shaped member (12) it acts as a piston, sliding on the passive wedge-shaped member (14) so that both wedge-shaped members exert diametrically opposed forces against a wall of the blast hole and are locked in place.

Abstract: A reduced pressure treatment system includes a porous pad positioned at a tissue site and a canister having a collection chamber, an inlet, and an outlet. The inlet is fluidly connected to the porous pad. A reduced pressure source is fluidly connected to the outlet of the canister to such that fluid from the tissue site may be drawn into the collection chamber. A hydrophobic filter is positioned adjacent the outlet to prevent liquid from exiting the collection chamber through the outlet. A baffle is positioned within the canister to create a tortuous path between the inlet and the outlet to prevent premature blocking of the hydrophobic filter.

  • Patent number: 8713617
Abstract: An isolation device isolates a transport medium internal to a customer premises from a transport medium external to the customer premises such that operational changes to one of the internal and external transport media do not affect the other of the internal and external transport media. A first interface communicates with the external transport medium and a second interface communicates with the internal transport medium. An addressable set-top box external to the customer premises receives encoded telecommunication information from the external transport medium and generates television signals from the encoded telecommunication information for transmission over the internal transport medium.

  • Patent number: 8705356
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for providing parties with levels of transparency into filtering functionality of network traffic inspection implementations. Embodiments include receiving a filter change request from a subscriber over a network that defines a modification to a set of filter criteria for filtering network traffic, the filter criteria being stored in association with the subscriber in a filter criteria data store; updating the set of filter criteria in the filter criteria data store as a function of the filter change request; receiving a content dataset relating to the network traffic; identifying the content dataset as being associated with the subscriber; retrieving the set of filter criteria associated with the subscriber from the data store; and filtering the network traffic as a function of the set of filter criteria. Embodiments further provide layers of access for different entities to the filtered traffic.
