    Abstract: An apparatus for severing a work object and the like. The apparatus has a base member which slidably mounts a pivot assembly and a yoke which are adapted to engage a distal end of a chain saw, the base member further has an attachment member mounting an elastic cord which permits the chain saw to be moved along a path of movement from a ready position to a severing position, and an adjustable shelf is provided to limit the motion of the chain saw in the severing position to achieve a cut of a preselected depth.
