  • Publication number: 20050170316
Abstract: A dye is incorporated in a carrier. The dye has the characteristics of attaching itself to residual plaque on the tooth surface. The dye also has the characteristic of being activated by the presence of ultraviolet radiation to visually create a fluorescent effect that would indicate the presence of plaque remaining on the teeth. The carrier can be toothpaste or any other form of tooth applicator, such as a rinse or gum. The UV light source could be from a separate device or could be mounted in the toothbrush itself.

  • Publication number: 20050144745
Abstract: A toothbrush includes an elongated shaft rotatably mounted to the cleaning surface of the brush head parallel to the longitudinal axis of the brush head. Cleaning elements are mounted to and extend outwardly from the shaft. In one embodiment of the invention the cleaning elements are disposed at an angle which is non-perpendicular to the shaft. In another embodiment of the invention the shaft and cleaning elements are in the form of a roller wherein the cleaning elements extend continuously along the length of the shaft.

The toothbrush is generally aligned along a central longitudinal axis. The head having a brush face including a brush cavity from which a plurality of bristles extend. The bristles being arranged in a plurality of bristle tufts so as to extend generally perpendicular to the central longitudinal axis. The toothbrush also includes a plurality of lateral support members extending upwardly from a base of the brush cavity. The bristles are attached to the toothbrush by an attachment device provided in the brush cavity. The attachment device engages at least one of the tufts and secures the tuft between adjacent lateral support members. The attachment device includes a bottom edge and a top edge.

  • Patent number: 6766613
Abstract: The present invention provides materials and methods for pest control. The subject invention provides pesticidal compositions that contain one or more compounds that interact with organic solute transporter/ligand-gated ion channel multifunction polypeptides in the pest. Upon exposure to a target pest, these compositions either compromise pest growth and/or cause the death of the pest. In a preferred embodiment, the compositions of the subject invention contain one or more amino acids and/or amino acid analogs. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the methods of the subject invention involve exposing a pest to a composition that comprises methionine or leucine, or an analog thereof.

  • Publication number: 20030233439
Abstract: A central administration tool or manager supports entry or selection of attribute data or datum (e.g., an attribute value) associated with at least one of a resource and a user. The entered or selected attribute data is arranged into a data structure (e.g., a file) for transmission over a communications network. The data structure is transmitted over the communications network to a directory interface. The transmitted data structure is processed to be compatible with interpretation by a directory services system. The directory services system is invoked consistent with the contents of the data structure (e.g., the file) and the previous processing of the data structure. Resources (e.g., applications) that are under the control of the directory services are managed consistent with the contents of the data structure.

  • Publication number: 20030143178
Abstract: Disclosed is a hair conditioning composition for applying to the dry hair prior to washing the hair, comprising by weight: (a) from about 30% to about 99.9% of a conditioning oil which is in liquid form at 25° C.; and (b) a thickener in an amount which provides the composition to have a viscosity of from about 500 mPa·s to about 200,000 mPa·s, the thickener selected from the group consisting of fatty compounds, waxy compounds, gelling agents, inorganic thickeners, oil soluble polymers, and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 6054895
Abstract: In an amplifier circuit having an amplifier path, a new pre-distortion arrangement is provided. The amplifier circuit includes a signal source, an intermediate amplifier stage, and a power amplifier stage connected sequentially, in series along the amplifier path. The power amplifier stage includes one or more amplifiers operationally connected in parallel, and one or more pre-correction circuits. Each of the amplifiers subjecting an inputted signal to shifts away from their intended values. Each of the pre-correction circuits is associated with one of the amplifiers and connected between an output of the intermediate amplifier stage and the associated amplifier. Each of the pre-correction circuits pre-distorts the signal input to the associated amplifier to compensate for the distortion caused by the associated amplifier.
