    Abstract: A fitted crib safety sheet for positioning over a crib mattress is made with a rectangular portion sized to fit over the top of the mattress. Side skirts are positioned on each side of the rectangular portion, and are sized to extend both down from the rectangular portion adjacent the sides of the mattress and then underneath the mattress. End flaps are positioned at each end of the rectangular portion, and are sized to not only extend down sides of the mattress but also to extend beneath the mattress. Corners of the sheet are sewn to conform to the corners of the mattress. A wide elastic strip is sewn to each end flap along the lateral width of the end flap. Then a narrow elastic strip is sewn to each side skirt along the longitudinal length of the side skirt and also sewn to the wide elastic stip.

    Abstract: Method for producing pads in which a laminated pad sheet is fed from a supply roll through a combined sealer/cutter. The laminated pad sheet is indexed into the sealer/cutter with a support sheet of a predetermined thickness. The sealer/cutter moves a perimeter pattern defining a sealing electrode into engagement with the laminated pad. Electrical energy is applied across the sealing electrode and a conductive, grounded plate forming a pad per/meter seal. A support plate upon which the perimeter forming electrode is mounted is moved further toward the pad when the power is turned off, causing a cutting edge surrounding the sealing electrode to pierce completely through the laminate pad and only partially through the support sheet.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus for producing a protective covering for beds or the like comprised of a first thermoplastic web, a pair of fibrous mats of substantial loft, said web and mats being bonded together in accordance with a quilted pattern utilizing a thermoelectric bonding technique. The bonding layer, which is preferably polyurethane or a derivative thereof, forms an excellent bond with both the web and the fibrous mats. The fibrous mats provide excellent moisture absorbency and are breathable since the fibrous mats are bonded to the web only at the limited areas defined by the pattern. The first web provides an excellent waterproof barrier, while the mats provide an array of puffed-up regions each delineated by the bonding pattern to yield an aesthetically appealing cover which may be used with either fibrous web exposed.
